One does not build a bridge between two entities that are already connected. It takes courage to hear the best version of what someone else is trying to say. Bridge-building takes the cooperation of multiple parties. A bridge connects. A bridge overcomes disparities in diverse ways of doing something or thinking about something. Deep listening forms trust. For a bridge to serve its purpose, it must be trusted as a stable way of crossing over.
