Wednesday Brief Bible Study
Luke 17:1-2
Woe!!!!!!
This week at Mt. Moriah we went over Luke 17:1-10. Here in verses 1-2 Jesus is talking about those causing His little ones to stumble. This can include non-believers and believers causing other believers to stumble. The ones stumbling here would be those who are new believers in Christ. When one comes to Christ and even before, temptations and roadblocks can come keeping you from drawing closer to Christ. Jesus is warning us not to cause others to stumble, especially those who are His. For a believer, Christ is our heavenly Father and He watches over us and protects us from following in the ways of those who want to deceive us. For a believer we need to be discerners; making sure we’re following and listening to those who are trying to bring us closer to and understand more of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the love He has for us. When you get done listening to someone talk or preach has it brought you closer to Christ or made you think more highly of the person talking? We also need to make sure when we share with others, we are lifting up our Lord, He was the One who did the mighty work and deserves all the praise and worship.
Do you realize Jesus Christ was high and greater than the sun and moon and stars in the sky, came down from heaven because He saw we were doomed? The One greater than the sun looked at little you and said I’ll save them. You and I are sinners, and we will die and without the love of Jesus Christ we’d be doomed and headed for hell. Little one, turn your eyes to Jesus Christ and He promises us He saves those who will call upon Him and repent of their sins (Romans 10:13, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”). If you need to do so, do so today or if you’re a believer and you’ve been turning away from Christ turn your eyes back to Him. The One higher than all the heavens has His arms open for you, what a blessing that is to think about, how loved we are! And afterward may we share His love with other brothers and sisters in Christ, and this lost world.
