As Summer begins, we feel the tension of all the activity - school graduations, summer camps, hot days, afternoon weddings, BBQs, and more. It can feel chaotic! May we use this time to practice Ignatian spirituality; a spirituality that teaches us to find the sacred in every single moment.

Inhale: I enter into this season with joy.
Exhale: I find beauty in the chaos.

In our rush to meet deadlines and answer the call of our communities, we often treat time as currency. We spend it all! We pack our schedules tightly, leaving no gaps between one task and the next.

But true sustainable ministry requires us to honor the sacredness of the pause. A moment of rest.

Exhale: I return to the world refreshed.

In many traditions, May is a month dedicated to Mary, and yesterday was Mother’s Day. But beyond the traditional roles, this season invites us to reflect on the sacred act of nurturing.

In our expansive ministry, we see this spirit everywhere: in our families, yes, but also in the mentor guiding a new leader, the advocate protecting a neighbor's dignity, and the friend holding space for someone’s grief. Today, let’s honor the diverse ways we provide nurturing and care to those around us.

Inhale: I am a source of warmth.
Exhale: I pour out love without conditions.

Who or what is growing in your care right now, and how can you offer them a little extra light today?

To practice expansive ministry like we do at FCM is to be a "doorway person," aka, someone who holds the entrance open, especially for those who have been told there isn't room for them.

Today, let’s consider how we can be an opening for someone else.

Exhale: I welcome the stranger as a friend.
