Your past is your lesson, not your identity. Stop living in the lesson and start thriving the identity of who you are in Christ Jesus. Since I’m in Him and He’s in me, I (you) don’t have to allow the thoughts and feelings of past failures to stop you from taking the next step. You’ve learned the lesson, now take the next step into what God is calling you to do and who He’s calling you to be. You got this! Why? Because He’s got you!

If you feel that, most recently, you’ve been attacked from every side and seemingly can’t break out of the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that have weighed you down, consider this; the devil is afraid of your release. I’ll say it again – the devil is afraid of your release! And, because he’s afraid, he’s pulling out everything he’s got to try and keep you from actualizing what God has spoken – even shown you. But, as we know, the devil is a liar. You are more than a conqueror through Him that loved you, and greater is He that is within you than He that’s in the world. You’re coming through this (present tense). The victory is already yours. Your freedom has already been declared. Don’t give up and don’t give in. The breakthrough you’ve been praying for is so much closer than you think.

Stop trying to force people to operate on the level of your expectations. Meet people where they are and love them on the level that they’re on. Remember, we teach people how to treat us. And, teaching takes time and patience. If they’re worth having in your life, then they’re also worth putting in the work also. Lastly, don’t forget, someone at some point took time with you, so why not do the same with someone else. Quality takes time. Put the work in!

In Matthew 26, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. Scripture says that He told Peter that He was grieved, sorrowful and trouble even to the point of death. Have you ever been there? Ever been in a place where the burden was too great for you, you’re going through too much and you ask the question, when will it all end? Jesus went through the same thing. So, if He went through it, stop beating yourself up when you go through it. Life can get hard – even to the point of resignation. Denying the reality of what you’re going through won’t help it. It only makes things worse. During the times of what feel like utter calamity, run to the only one that can help, like Jesus did, run to the Father. He’s waiting on you to “cast your cares on Him…” Why? Because He cares for you. Run to the Father!

I feel it's necessary to ensure that those reading this blog know that, before I share anything with you, God has first dealt with me on the matter. In times past, I’ve preached messages or taught lessons based on what I’d read or studied. They were great messages and prayerfully received well. However, I’ve learned over these last 9 years that nothing beats a message preached out of one’s experience. A message read vs. a message lived. For those living in and through what seems to be the worst time of your life, know that the testimony you share with someone will transform their entire life. Why? Because it comes not from what you heard, but from what you know! 2 Corinthians 1:3-7

For those who have forgotten, or for those who’ve never heard me say, know this – the rumors of my demise are extremely exaggerated! Some say it’s been too long. Others say that I’m delusional and don’t have a grip on reality. Here’s what I say:

1. God’s favor and anointing is still on my life.
2. I am being restored and will be fully restored according to God’s divine plan for my life. Every eye that saw the fall will see the restoration.
3. WHEN God does it, nobody will receive the glory but Him!

Time often causes many people to faint, but this “down time” has been my prep time. He’s preparing me, developing me, pruning me, teaching me and strengthening me. My testimony remains the same; I thank God I’m saved, sanctified and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost. His grace and mercy has covered and kept me, in and through it all. I’m a witness that He’s a keeper! I’ll see y’all soon. That’s faith talk (wink).

You have heard that it was said, “Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. (Matthew 5:43-45)

This absolutely deserves a deeper dive, but how many of you have found yourself on a constant guest list, searching for things you didn’t or don’t receive at home? This could be your childhood home you grew up in, or the home you currently reside in with your spouse, children, etc. Search high and low, in faces and in places, but one thing for certain and two for sure, you will never find happiness without holiness. The longing, desire, emptiness can only be filled with and by Him. “…delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desire of your heart…” All your desires, both natural and spiritual are wrapped up in Him and your relationship with Him. Trust me, delighting in Him will fill every empty space you’ve been missing and, bring you peace that passeth all understanding.

From the beginning of me submitting these posts, my desire was, and is, to encourage, strengthen and uplift those who read them. I simply share what I believe God has given me to give to you. I pray that you’ve been encouraged. Along with what I’ve shared, there may be things you’d like to know, or questions you’d like my input on. By all means, feel free to ask. I don’t mind at all. Feel free to use the email address or, simply post your question. It would be my pleasure to help walk you through any situation that you’re going through. I look forward to it.

What conversations are people having about you in your absence? While you can’t control what people say, think or feel about you, wouldn’t it be good to know that people are speaking favorably about you? You’ll never be perfect, and yes, you’ll make some mistakes on your journey. However, use every mistake as a tool to make you better; so much better that what’s remembered isn’t your failure, but how much better you’ve become despite your failure.

“…Many are the affliction of the righteous, but the Lord will deliver him out of them all…?” Try looking at this on the spiritual size; stop asking God to deliver or help you from it. Accept and celebrate that God can still deliver you out of. Understanding the scripture helps the believer to live a peaceful and productive spiritual life. God may not have kept me from it, but I’m confident that He’s gonna deliver me out of it. Sin, sorrow and suffering just are. God has allowed it, and you can’t avoid it – in this life. But, consider this – maybe God is allowing those things to purge you and me from the shallowness and self-centeredness that keeps us from receiving what God is teaching us during those times of suffering and sorrow. Continue to remind yourself that, this is working for my good. What are you getting out of this that you wouldn’t have received had He delivered you from this?!? Trust this furnace of affliction. God will deliver!

I’ve noticed during my time of pastoring and even in this current situation that, those who were once broken seem to have more compassion for those who are going through. Not only do they have more compassion, but they have greater appreciate and most importantly, more love. These attributes are often birthed in the valley of despair. When you’ve been there, you’re able to have greater levels of empathy who are there now. I’ve learned and continue to learn to love and support others on the level that I’ve been loved and supported by Jesus Christ – unconditionally.
