The Salvation Army Berea Service Unit

The Salvation Army Berea Service Unit Providing emergency services to help aid our neighbors in need.

The Service Extension Department is an outreach of The Salvation Army specifically designed to reach the needs of those living in small communities and rural areas of Northeast Ohio, where a Salvation Army worship and service center is not located. Through this program, which is primarily operated by volunteers, we ensure no one in Northeast Ohio is beyond the reach of The Army’s services. The goa

l is providing assistance to people during crisis situations and to identify other community resources which are available to provide additional help. These units provide temporary emergency assistance based on the generous donations the local volunteers raise. For the most part, a Service Unit is located in a community church building or other facility, run mainly by volunteers. Depending on the area and community needs, the unit may offer a limited array of services such as:
- Utility Assistance
- Prescriptions
- Food Vouchers & Food Pantries
- Gasoline Vouchers
- Rent & Lodging Assistance
- Back to School Supplies
- Summer Overnight Camping
- Christmas Toys
Be sure to check with your local unit, to see what services are available!
