60 YEARS!!!! In Business

Thru the Generation’s

In 1966 Ray Carter had the desire to help individual’s honor and remember their family’s and loved one’s by crafting and telling their stories in stone. Ray’s desire led him to open Clarksville Memorial Company in May of 1966 and make his first memorial sale on May 6th, 1966. In May of 1982 after being in business for 16 years Ray’s oldest daughter Pam Carter Claxton decided to join the family business and came to work for her father. After working for her father for 6 years Pam’s husband Steve Claxton decided he to wanted to join his wife and father-in-law in the family business and came to work at Clarksville Memorial Company in February of 1988 just one month before the birth or their first child (Ray’s first grandson). Eighteen years later in 2006 after growing up watching his parents and grandfather compassionately and desirably helping families tell their loved ones stories in stone Wes Claxton became the 3rd generation of Clarksville Memorial Company. Clarksville we are incredibly grateful for all the stories in stone 3 generations of our family has had the honor and privilege of helping families tell for their loved ones over the past 60 years. Our family looks forward to continuing to tell those stories and assist you with all of your Memorial needs!!!

We had the honor and privilege of working with the family of John and Anna Barr better known as "Stockade Annie" (her story can be found in Local Author Carolyn Ferrell book) by assisting them in resetting their stone. It is so large it fell over years ago. A new concrete foundation was poured due to deterioration/ lack of existing foundation. A new base was ordered for the memorial sit on to make the stone more secure. Once the new base was installed an memorial mounted. We cleaned the memorial to preserve its history. Thank you to the Barr family for allowing us to assist your family with your memorial needs!!!
