Have you ever looked at your life and thought, "This isn't how I imagined things would turn out"? Maybe you've experienced loss, disappointment, broken relationships, unanswered prayers, or seasons where it felt like nothing was moving forward. It's easy to believe that the chapter you're living in now is how the whole story ends. But one of the greatest truths found in Scripture is that God is never finished with His people until He says He is.

When we read the Bible, we don't find perfect people living perfect lives. We find men and women whose stories took unexpected turns. Joseph went from being the favored son to a slave and then a prisoner before God raised him to a position of great influence. Ruth lost her husband and found herself in a foreign land with an uncertain future before God brought redemption into her life. Peter denied Jesus three times, convinced he had failed beyond repair, yet Jesus restored him and used him to boldly proclaim the gospel. At every turn, God was writing a story that was far greater than what they could see in the moment.

That's because God sees the whole picture while we only see the page we're on. Isaiah 55:8 and 9 reminds us, "'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord. 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts'" (NKJV). We often judge God's faithfulness by what's happening today, but God is accomplishing eternal purposes that stretch far beyond what we can currently understand.

Maybe you're in a chapter that feels confusing. Maybe you've been praying for answers that haven't come or waiting for doors that haven't opened. Don't mistake an unfinished chapter for a finished story. God often does His greatest work in the middle of what feels like a setback. The waiting is not wasted. The trial is not meaningless. Even the painful seasons can become places where your faith grows deeper and your dependence on Christ becomes stronger.

The apostle Paul encouraged believers with these words: "Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6 NKJV). What a promise. God doesn't abandon the work He begins. He doesn't lose interest in His children. He doesn't walk away when life gets messy. He remains faithful from beginning to end.

If you're trusting in Christ today, don't let discouragement convince you that hope is gone. Keep walking. Keep praying. Keep opening God's Word. Keep obeying Him one step at a time. There may be pages in your story filled with sorrow, but because of Jesus, sorrow is never the final chapter. The Author of your faith is still writing, and He has never failed to finish what He started.

Your story isn't defined by your worst day, your greatest failure, or your deepest disappointment. It's defined by the faithfulness of the God who holds the pen. Trust Him with the next page. He knows exactly where the story is going, and you can be certain that His ending is always better than anything you could have written on your own.

Guilt has a way of following us around. Even after we've asked for forgiveness, we can find ourselves replaying old mistakes, wishing we could rewrite conversations, undo decisions, or erase seasons of our lives. The enemy loves to use our past as a weapon. He whispers that we'll never change, that God could never fully forgive someone like us, and that our failures will always define us. But those lies fall apart in the light of the gospel.

The Bible doesn't ignore our sin, and neither should we. Sin is serious because it separates us from a holy God. That's why Jesus came. He didn't come to make bad people a little better. He came to save sinners. First John 1:9 gives us this incredible promise: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (NKJV). Notice the confidence in that verse. It doesn't say He might forgive us or that He'll forgive us if we feel guilty long enough. It says He is faithful. Our forgiveness rests on His character, not on our emotions.

When Jesus died on the cross, He didn't pay for only some of your sins. He paid for all of them. Every sinful thought, every careless word, every act of rebellion was placed upon Him. That's why Paul could write, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus..." (Romans 8:1 NKJV). If God has removed your condemnation through Christ, why would you continue carrying what He has already taken away?

That doesn't mean we make light of sin or continue living in it. Grace isn't permission to disobey God. Grace is the undeserved favor of God that forgives us, transforms us, and teaches us to pursue holiness. The same grace that saves us also changes us. As we walk with Christ, we become more like Him, not because we're trying to earn His love, but because we've already received it.

Maybe today you're carrying guilt that Jesus has already paid for. You've confessed it, but you haven't forgiven yourself. You've accepted that God forgives others, but you struggle to believe His forgiveness is really for you.

Friend, if your faith is in Christ, His Word is more trustworthy than your feelings.

When God says you're forgiven, you're forgiven.

When He says your sins have been removed "as far as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12 NKJV), He means it.

When He calls you His child, He's not pretending your past never happened. He's declaring that your future has been forever changed by His Son.

So stop letting yesterday's failures steal today's joy. Stand in the grace that Christ purchased for you. Walk in the freedom He has given you. Hold your head high, not because you've lived a perfect life, but because you have a perfect Savior.

Your past may explain part of your story, but it no longer defines it.

God's grace does.

There was a moment in history when everything changed. Not because a king took a throne, an army won a battle, or a nation became powerful. Everything changed because Jesus Christ willingly went to a cross.

Sometimes we’ve heard the story of the cross so many times that we can forget just how incredible it really is. Jesus wasn’t an unfortunate victim of circumstances. He willingly gave His life. He said, “No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself” (John 10:18 NKJV). He knew exactly what awaited Him, and He went anyway. Why? Because our greatest problem wasn’t that we needed better circumstances. We needed to be reconciled to God.

Sin had created a debt we couldn’t pay. No amount of good works, religious activity, generosity, or trying harder could make us righteous before a holy God. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (NKJV). That’s every one of us. We didn’t need improvement. We needed rescue.

And that’s exactly what Jesus came to do.

At the cross, Jesus took upon Himself the judgment our sin deserved. First Peter 2:24 says that He “Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree” (NKJV). The innocent One stood in the place of the guilty. The sinless Savior gave His life for sinners. We could never earn our way back to God, so God, in His incredible grace, made a way for us through His Son.

That’s why the words Jesus spoke from the cross are so powerful: “It is finished!” (John 19:30 NKJV).

Not almost finished. Not finished once we become good enough. Not finished after we somehow make up for everything we’ve done wrong.

Finished.

The debt was paid. The sacrifice was made. The way to God was opened through Christ.

But the story didn’t end at the cross.

Three days later, the tomb was empty.

Jesus rose from the dead.

That’s why Christianity isn’t built around the memory of a dead teacher. Our faith rests in a risen Savior. Paul wrote that Christ “was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification” (Romans 4:25 NKJV).

Because Jesus lives, our hope is alive too.

Your past doesn’t have to own you anymore. Your sin doesn’t have to define you. Shame doesn’t get the final word. Death itself doesn’t get the final word.

Jesus does.

Maybe you’ve spent years carrying guilt over something God is ready to forgive. Maybe you’ve convinced yourself that you’ve gone too far, failed too many times, or made too big of a mess for God to want you.

Look at the cross.

The cross doesn’t tell you that your sin doesn’t matter. It tells you that your sin mattered so much that Jesus had to die for it, and that He loved you enough to do exactly that.

Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (NKJV).

While we were still sinners.

Jesus didn’t wait for us to clean ourselves up before He loved us. He came to save us because we couldn’t save ourselves.

So when the enemy reminds you of who you used to be, remember what Jesus has done. When shame tells you that you’re beyond redemption, remember the empty tomb. When life makes you wonder whether God really loves you, look again at the cross.

If you’ve placed your faith in Jesus Christ, you’re forgiven. You’re reconciled to God. You’ve been given new life. You don’t have to spend another day trying to earn a salvation Jesus already purchased.

The cross changed everything.

And because the tomb is empty, there’s no sin too great for His grace, no past too broken for His redemption, and no situation so hopeless that Jesus can’t bring hope into it.

The cross wasn’t the end of Jesus.

It was the end of our hopelessness.

There are a lot of voices competing for our attention.

The world tells us to follow our hearts. Social media tells us to follow the latest trend. Friends offer advice. Experts give opinions. Before long, it can be difficult to know who or what to trust.

That's why God's Word is such an incredible gift.

It isn't another opinion.

It isn't advice that changes with the culture.

It isn't true today and outdated tomorrow.

It is the unchanging Word of the living God.

Psalm 119:89 says, "Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven" (NKJV).

Think about that.

Everything around us is constantly changing, but God's Word has already been settled. It doesn't need to be revised because God has never been mistaken. It doesn't need to adapt because truth doesn't change.

That means when God says He'll never leave you nor forsake you, you can believe Him.

When He says His grace is sufficient, you can rest in that promise.

When He says He'll forgive those who repent and place their faith in Christ, you don't have to wonder if He really means it.

If God said it, you can trust it.

That's exactly how Jesus responded when He was tempted in the wilderness. He didn't argue with Satan or rely on His emotions. Three times He answered with the words, "It is written..." (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10 NKJV).

The Son of God stood on the authority of Scripture.

Shouldn't we?

Feelings are real, but they're not always reliable.

There will be days when you don't feel forgiven.

Days when you don't feel loved.

Days when you don't feel like God is near.

But your feelings don't determine reality.

God's Word does.

When your heart tells you that you're alone, remember God's promise: "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5 NKJV).

When fear tells you tomorrow is hopeless, remember that God is already there.

When guilt reminds you of your past, remember that "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 NKJV).

Don't let your emotions become louder than God's promises.

The more time you spend in Scripture, the more your mind begins to think the way God wants it to think. Your perspective changes. Your faith grows. Your confidence deepens because you're no longer standing on shifting opinions. You're standing on eternal truth.

Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away" (Matthew 24:35 NKJV).

Everything in this world has an expiration date.

God's Word doesn't.

So when life feels uncertain, open your Bible.

When you're discouraged, open your Bible.

When you're confused, open your Bible.

When you're celebrating, open your Bible.

Not because the pages themselves have power, but because they reveal the God who does.

His Word has never failed.

His promises have never been broken.

His truth has never needed correcting.

You can build your life on what God has said with complete confidence because the God who spoke those words is perfectly faithful, and He always keeps His promises.

We’re excited about what God is building through our children’s ministry at His Place Community Church.

One of the things that matters deeply to us is creating a place where kids are safe, cared for, loved, and given the opportunity to grow in their faith and learn about Jesus in a way they can understand.

As a brand new church, we’re building a lot of things from the ground up, and the reality is that funds aren’t always readily available for everything we’d love to provide. We recently put together a wish list of some of the items that would help us strengthen and equip our children’s ministry.

This isn’t meant to put pressure on anyone at all. But if you feel led to help, we would be incredibly grateful.

And please don’t feel like you have to purchase directly from the wish list. If you already have one of these items sitting around your home that you no longer use, we’d be happy to put it to good use. If you can find something cheaper somewhere else, absolutely go for it. We’re not concerned about where it comes from. We’re simply thankful for the help.

Every item, every donation, and every act of generosity helps us create a better environment for the kids God has entrusted to us.
