87 Community Members Attend Helping Young Minds Thrive Event
Helping Young Minds Thrive was an evening filled with connection, education, insight on what mental health struggles youth are facing today, and the sharing of practical tools that adults can use to support the mental well-being of youth in our community.
“This was informative and grounded – easy to understand and offered very clear strategies and clearer understanding,” said one participant.
It was inspiring to see so many people from our parish community and beyond interested in learning more about and promoting youth mental health.
Special thanks to our speaker, Tasha Ross LCSW, The Sebastian Schemmel Legacy Fund for sponsoring the event, SGG Mental Wellness Ministry for planning and coordinating, and to McNicholas High School for providing a wonderful space!

This spring the SGG Mental Wellness Ministry is hoping to shine a bright light on the subject of Youth Mental Health. Because today’s young people are facing unprecedented pressures — academic demands, intense social media comparison, anxiety, depression, isolation, and cultural instability — we must take notice and provide support. The consequences are real and rising, affecting relationships, identity, and even life itself. This is not a distant issue; it is present in our schools, our churches, and our homes.⁣

If you are a parent, teacher, youth minister, coach, grandparent, mentor, or just a caring adult, please join us for an important educational experience — Helping Young Minds Thrive: Supporting Youth Mental Health with Faith, Compassion & Practical Tools. Tasha Ross, LCSW, is a therapist, professional trainer, and dynamic speaker who works with teenagers every day. She will inform, guide, and encourage us and provide tools that any of us can use to understand and support our young people who may be struggling. See the flyer for all the details of this important event and please join us.

THANK YOU to everyone that contributed to the success of the Day of Service held on Saturday, March 21. Here is what we accomplished.⁣
1. Food Packing – We set a goal of packing 25,000 Rice and Vegetable dinners. Due to a record turnout of volunteers, we packed 32,800 dinners. These dinners will be shipped overseas to a country experiencing famine.⁣
2. Hygiene Kits – We packed and delivered 500 bags of personal care items that will be used for overnight clients at homeless shelters. (Esther Marie Hatton House for Women and the Shelterhouse on Gest Street for Men.)⁣
3. Personal Care Bags – We packed 100 bags of personal care items for the Never the Less Organization. This group provides programs and events for 6th to 11th grade girls.⁣
4. Food Power Packs – We packed 500 bags (over 650 pounds) of food items that were donated to Interparish Ministries (IPM). IPM will distribute these bags to after school programs and Boys and Girls Clubs in the Cincinnati area.⁣
5. Diapers – Over 20,000 diapers were wrapped and re-packaged to be distributed by the Care Closet in Newport, KY. ⁣
Here is why the day was such a success – ⁣
We had a goal of securing 175 volunteers to help. The actual number of volunteers was 225! Many families worked together.⁣
Parishioners donated over 5,000 individual hygiene items.⁣
We received donations of over 5,500 individual food items.⁣
Donations of disposable diapers came from a variety of sources.⁣
This was truly a St. Gregory the Great event! Parishioners from all three of our churches worked together to publicize, set up, work in assembly lines, clean up, deliver, and recycle. ⁣
Thank You to everyone that participated in any way.

The SGG Lenten Event "Hard Questions, Warm Scones" was a wonderful success! Thank you for everyone who came out to join us for homemade scones and tea as Fr. Aaron and a panel of experts fielded questions submitted by our parishioners about the Church, our faith, and why we do what we do.
