What Fruit Are We Bearing?

“How shall I make a return to the LORD for all the good he has done for me?” — Psalm 116:12

This week’s Psalm asks a question at the very heart of stewardship: How do we respond to all that God has given us?

Our faith begins with recognizing that everything is gift—our lives, abilities, relationships, resources, opportunities, and, above all, our salvation in Christ. Stewardship is our grateful response to those gifts.

But gratitude is meant to produce something.

In the Gospel, Jesus tells us, “Every tree is known by its own fruit.” What fills our hearts eventually becomes visible in the way we live. Our priorities shape our choices. Our choices become habits. And our habits bear fruit—in our families, our parish, our workplaces, and our community.

Jesus then gives us an even stronger image. The person who hears His words and acts on them is like someone who digs deeply and builds a house on rock. Faithfulness is not simply knowing what Jesus asks of us. It is building our lives upon it.

That is true of stewardship, too.

God has entrusted each of us with different gifts. The question is not whether our gifts look like someone else’s, but what we are doing with what God has entrusted to us.

Are our time and attention bearing fruit? Are we using our abilities to serve others? Do our financial choices reflect gratitude and generosity? Are our daily decisions helping us build lives firmly rooted in Christ?

This week, consider one gift God has given you and ask: What fruit is this gift producing?

A life of stewardship is built one faithful response at a time. When gratitude becomes action, good fruit follows.

We Will Never Forget

25th Anniversary of 9/11 Memorial Mass & Opening of Forty Hours Devotion

September 11 - 9:00 AM

This September marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, a day forever etched in the hearts of our nation. Please join us at 9:00 AM at St. Cecilia Church for a special Memorial Mass, which will also begin our Forty Hours Devotion.
Together, we will remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, honor the courage and sacrifice of our first responders, pray for their families, and ask God for peace in our nation and throughout the world.
Following Mass, we will begin Forty Hours of Eucharistic Adoration, bringing our prayers and remembrance before Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. Please take time to be present. Adoration is open throughout the night on Friday and Saturday.
Twenty-five years later, we remember. We will never forget, and we will never stop praying.
