We came to unity to make our Meetinghouse available and welcome to those who need a cooling center through the volunteers at Safe Space Winter Shelter. Our old building can be cooler for up to 35 unsheltered people every day from 2-8pm for a month from July 18 to August 18, 2021. With the help of many Chico Friends, our Little Free Library has been painted and assembled, the support post has been built and installed, and now the time is coming to introduce it to the rest of Chico Friends Meeting and to the neighborhood.

We are planning a welcoming on Sunday July 18 at noon, after Meeting for Worship, which will be in-person as well as virtual that day. We'll have lemonade and cookies, a brief introduction to how to "take a book, leave a book", and time to look at the books, chat with friends and neighbors, and enjoy being outside in the shade of the big trees on that E. 16th Street side of the Meetinghouse.
