This Advent and throughout the year, Felician Services has lived the Felician Sisters’ theme, “Widening Our Tent for Charism and Mission.” We have explored how we keep the doors of the tent wide open to let everyone in, serving both as hosts and companions on the journey.

S Jeremy Marie Midura, our EVP Charism and Mission Integration and member of the Coalition for Spiritual and Public Leadership’s Women’s Religious Council, participated in yesterday’s Advent Press Conference to draw attention to the conditions at the Broadview Detention Center, reminding those assembled that "those inside Broadview are not numbers, not cases, not paperwork. They are mothers and fathers, sons and daughters.”

A group of Catholic faith leaders is demanding access to the Broadview Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.

November 21st is always a special day to the Felician Community.

It marks the founding of the Felician Sisters in 1855, when Sophia Truszkowska took the name Angela and her cousin Clothilde joined her as the first sister, establishing the congregation.

It recalls the arrival of five sisters in Polonia, Wisconsin, in 1874. After enduring tremendous hardships on their ocean crossing and later facing the devastation of their convent burning down twice, they remained steadfast, embodying Christ’s love.

It celebrates the establishment of the one North American Province, Our Lady of Hope, in 2009, uniting the Felician family and encouraging us all to live the Felician charism.

May this day become an important day in your life as a ministry partner of the Felician Sisters.

On this, the 126th anniversary of the passing of Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, we honor her remarkable leadership with a Day of Gratitude. Today is a beautiful day for the Felician Sponsored Ministries and friends of the Felician Sisters to express appreciation for the people, experiences, and places that shape them. For the Felician Sisters of North America Day of Service on September 18th, a number of colleagues from Felician Services visited Precious Blood Ministry Of Reconciliation to conduct service. A beautiful day of weather cooperated so that outdoor work could commence! We are so happy to share this collaborative project with PBMR, an organization that heals the hearts of many.

On a beautiful August 25th, when the weather couldn’t have cooperated more, Felician Sisters from the Chicago area, Felician Associates, and the Felician Services team caravaned to St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, Illinois to honor the Felician Sisters of recent and distant memory.

St. Adalbert serves as a sprawling, scenic resting place of approximately 255 acres, and the attendees visited several spots of importance during the visit. Working our way through the prayer service, first, S Connie Marie Lewandowski laid a wreath near the provincials which included SM Veronica, the first provincial of the Chicago area, and SM Laudiose Korbal, whose visionary tenacity supported the creation of Felician Services, Inc., in 1989.

Next, S Connie laid a wreath in the section where the Felician Sisters are laid to rest. There, guests spoke the names of Sisters Margaret Narloch and Ramona Dombrowski, who, like many Felician Sisters, provided humble Felician leadership in their endeavors in ministry.

Lastly, the attendees visited the grave of SM Salomea Kalwa, the former SM Vincentine, who, as one of the five pioneer sisters, made the tempestuous journey from Poland to Polonia in 1874. SM Salomea rests among her Sisters of Nazareth, the order which she joined to follow her passion for health care. S Connie left a beautiful basket of flowers at Sr. Salomea’s grave.

As guests trekked back to their cars, exchanged goodbyes, and remarked how wonderful it was to honor the Sisters, the Felician Sisters can be assured that your associates, colleagues, and partners in ministry will continue their prayers for the Felician Sisters everywhere. How blessed are we all that during this 150th Anniversary Year of Felician presence in North America, we also celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska.

We encourage you to read the letter from S Danat Marie Brysch, Minister General of the Felician Sisters, to see how we are called to, "have faith that we have the call and the power to make God's loving face more visible to those whose sight is faltering."
