WHAT IS THE CHURCH CALLED TO DO?

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matt 28:19-20).

The church (assembly of believers) is where the community of the Triune God shares the good news with the world. It should not be a place where events and programs fill its calendars, and the only time the church engages in disciple-making is during its annual programs such as Family and Friends Day and Resurrection Sunday. This church has lost its way and is not following the commandments of Christ. Let us hold fast to our confessions and align our hearts to accomplish the work Christ commanded the church to do.

PRAYER: Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that the vision of the churches across the land will reflect the commands of Christ, to share the gospel with the lost, and to equip them through teaching and preaching the Word so that they may go forth and do the same with others, AMEN! Jesus also prayed a similar prayer to the Father before going to the Cross in John 17.

Serving All Men

19 Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

Biblical tracts are an excellent way for us to share our faith.
* They can witness for us if we are too timid to speak to others.
* They speak to the hearts of individuals when they are ready.
* They don't cause arguments.
* They can enter a person's home when we can't.

Until the nets are full (Luke 5:5-6) .... keep sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Excerpt from my book, Faith, Fervency and Fire...

Draw Near to God Focus Scriptures
James 4:8
Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Isaiah 55:6-7
Seek the Lord while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on
him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

The Bible tells us what our response to our sinfulness should be... to denounce sin and draw near to God. But how do we respond if we know we have lived according to worldly wisdom, motivated by jealousy and selfish desire to get what we want? Drawing near to God means desiring to be in a relationship with Him.

It should be our desire to become more like God. When faced with our sins, we can sometimes experience overwhelming shame. But even in these moments, we should draw closer to the Lord, as only he can redeem us from our sins and free us from condemnation. Is there anything that hinders you from drawing closer to God?

When we draw close to God, He will respond by coming closer to us. This is an incredible act of mercy because the Lord of all creation owes nothing to humanity. What a blessing it is for God to even come into our presence. His grace is sufficient for us. 2 Corinthians 12:9

Pray this prayer...

Heavenly Father, I will rise early to seek Your face as I long to be more like you. I will seek and find You when I search for You with all my heart. I ask for forgiveness of my trespasses and those who have trespassed against me. O Lord, I owe you all the glory and praise. May Your blessings enrich my soul as I seek You day and night. May You, O LORD, continue to bless and keep me; make Your face shine upon me, be gracious to me, and give me peace.” In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen!

"Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you are not saved yourself. Be sure of that." -- Charles Spurgeon

In a recent study, only 2 percent of Christians nationwide obey Jesus's command to evangelize and win the lost (Mark 16:15), which is almost entirely neglected. Oh, but we have our church programs, prayer, and worship activities upheld while watching others perish.

If God is speaking to you about your lack of evangelistic concern in a dying world. Repent, pray, and ask God for direction. Someone's salvation may be at stake if you neglect your God-given purpose.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8
