Happy Birthday Pope Leo!!

09/11/2026

The Gospel tells us that no one has greater love than to lay down their life for their friends.

A quarter-century after September 11, 2001, this milestone requires both remembrance and an honest moral reckoning.

We remember the incredible courage of the first responders, chaplain, and everyday citizens who ran toward danger to save others.

We must also reckon with the aftermath of this national trauma. We are called to embrace Gospel Non-Violence and to build a culture of peace, radical hospitality, and enduring justice.

May God heal our wounded hearts and make us instruments of peace.

What does it mean to remember, twenty-five years later?

This week’s Wisdom Wednesday covers the anniversary of 9/11 and looks at how suspicion toward Muslim Americans has outlasted the war itself, even as clergy across the country now stand with Haitian and Salvadoran immigrant communities facing aggressive ICE enforcement.

From Vermont to Washington, pastors are being arrested and communities are turning to faith for strength amid fear.

As we look back, may we recommit to the peace and justice we’re called to build.

Editorial: It's not enough to remember 9/11. We need to recommit to peace.

Some quiet contemplation in our ever-noisy world seems essential to continue processing the attacks and their aftermath, but also as a starting point to consider how we can advocate for peace.

kinda chic to be a friend of AUSCP πŸ•ŠοΈ

If any of these hit home, you might already be one. AUSCP Friends are the laypeople who walk alongside our priests in prayer, dialogue, and action for a more synodal church.

Today the Church remembers St. Phoebe!

In Romans 16, Paul entrusts Phoebe – described as a deacon of the church in Cenchreae – to carry his letter to the Romans, one of the most important texts in Christian history. She was trusted, respected, and named as a leader in the early Church.

Today, we join Discerning Deacons and hundreds of parishes around the world celebrating her foundational legacy.

Join us in prayer and celebration with a prayer written by Elizabeth Young, RSM.

With Pope Leo, AUSCP advocates for a synodal, inclusive Church that actively recognizes and supports the proper co-responsible roles of women and men in leadership.

Monday Blessing:
May the God of the Voiceless be with you, prompting you to find ways of defending those who are downtrodden and fearful. May you have the courage to speak out against injustice in an effort to make the world a better place for all. As you help the downtrodden, may joy grow in your heart.
