Mental Health Struggles
How do you handle struggles with your mental health?
Most people ignore obvious symptoms hoping a lack of acknowledgment means the
symptoms will dissipate.
When struggling with your mental health its easy to feel defective, discouraged or judged .
What is needed most during the dark times are healthy coping skills which includes:
- Be open to reaching out to a mental health counselor. You are not alone.
- Accept that it is normal to feel depressed or anxious during these extraordinary times. Covid, mass shooting, the fight for social just , wars, and so many other challenges we face each day.
- Journaling. When you are feeling overwhelmed or helpless, it’s important to know exactly what you are feeling and why. Be gracious and empathetic towards yourself.
- Treat your mental health like
your physical health. You would never try to treat a serious illness . You are not a doctor
and you are not a mental health professional.
