If there is a scripture that best sums up what it means to welcome people into church these days, to welcome them into Christ, this is it. So friends in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America these days, there is a charism among us. USE IT. People will be asking about our denomination, what we believe, but make sure at some point in addition to answering questions - INVITE THE ASKERS IN. Bible study, worship, a volunteer event, a dinner. It really doesn’t matter. Show them a love that will help them carry their burdens, for this is what so many of us need, and pray they remember you for that love.
