What does family mean to us? As I was growing up we had a strong family bond. This bond was developed because we spent a lot of time with our families, consisting of siblings, cousins, uncles, aunts, our parents, grandparents and close friends who were considered family. Every weekend our families gathered together to eat, watch sports, have parties or just have time of fellowship and there was family love. Our parents knew the importance of coming together and they would say “We are Family”. You may ask were there disagreements at times, discord? Yes, of course. We know no one is perfect. Today our families may not speak for days, months and some maybe even years but when we do speak there is a bond that connects us with love, experiences, and memories. Family is forever and a gift from God.
In Ephesians 2:16-19 NLT it says 16 Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death. 17 He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. 18 Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us. 19 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.

Perhaps this was not your family experience and it was distant and love was not something that was expressed. Possibly your experiences and memories were painful to think about. God the Father calls us his sons and daughters, and He desires for you to have a relationship with Him.
2 Corinthians 6:18 NLT 18 And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty.[a]”

We are Family in Christ Jesus. We receive unconditional love and are to be rooted in God the Father’s foundation seeking his guidance in all we do. Our scriptures tell us that God’s mercies are new every day (Lamentations 3:22-23). God’s promise for us is to grow together with strength and power to accomplish all He has purposed in our lives.
Christ knocks at your door and invites you to be a part of His family. Will you answer? He already has a place for you, all you have to do is come as you are. Come, let us grow together. We are His children and He wants to bless us and generations to come.

John 15:18 (ESV)
18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

When it comes to purpose in our lives , we may ask ourselves questions and ponder on them. Questions like..............Where is life taking me, What decisions must I make to have things work out, Where would I be in the next five years? We all have asked ourselves these things one time or another. When we think about our purpose in life we tend to seek those things that pertain to the hope of answering those questions.

We were created for something, we have meaning in our lives. You are created in the image of our Lord and to have a relationship with Him. What is your purpose? Let me begin by sharing that we all have a purpose in life.

It is encouraging to know that each one of us has a purpose in life. It is also heartening to know that this purpose can be determined. To determine the purpose of an appliance sold in a store, asking the storeowner may give you some idea; asking someone who uses it may also give you a fair idea. However, if you want to hit the bull's eye you might as well read the instruction manual which is enclosed with the product. In some cases, you can even contact the manufacturer.

You may be wondering, "How does this relate to finding my purpose in life?" The fact is that you were created and your creator, God, who is your "manufacturer", has left you a manual with instructions. This manual is the Bible. The Bible insures us that the Lord has created us and given us all a purpose.

We read in the book of Psalms 40:5 (NLT) : O LORD my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.

God has plans for us and we can know those plans, his plans are our purpose. This should encourage us to pick up His manual, the Bible. This month we will be speaking on the subject of "PURPOSE IN OUR LIVES".

Well, welcome to 2024. What's going to be different this year? We've been at this point before, meaning every year we begin to think about what we haven't accomplished and most importantly what we will try to make happen in the new year. RESET.......if we haven't done what we set out to do and accomplish what we felt was important for us to feel like we reached personal goals, well.....RESET.

I'm sure many of us have started things in our lives (2023) that are still in the process and eventually will have an end date. Until then....RESET. For all those who read this, if you are seeking to move in what God has for you in your life it begins with our motivation. If you are sitting on the fence of deciding to begin a serious relationship with your walk with God it begins with.....RESET.
God has made promises to those He loves throughout His word to make us new (RESET) so that we will not be distracted in our walk with Him.

Long ago it was written, Ezekiel 36:26-27(NKJV)
26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

God targets the place where we store the things of this life that matters to us, our hearts. He makes our hearts new and able to store His thoughts, instructions and works He has for us so that we can maneuver ourselves throughout our lives.

We also read in the book of Isaiah 43:18-19(NKJV),
18 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.

God says to His people not to define yourselves by getting stuck looking at your past but to look forward and see the new thing that He can do with us.
Again we read our Heavenly Father's instructions in Isaiah 30:21 (NKJV),
21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.

This new year does not have to follow in the same steps as last year. God helps in our times of trouble.

Finally, Paul wrote to the Corinthian church in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV),
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

This new year, make the decision to RESET by letting the Spirit of God do what He does best, let Him create in you by transforming your heart, let Him guide your paths, and let Him make your life anew. That is a RESET we all can use this year.

When it comes to being "blessed", we have many sayings like, "blessings come in disguises", "blessings come in threes", "blessings come in many forms", blessings come when you least expect it. A blessing is something that we receive with open hearts because it is something that happens at the right moment in our lives. When we are blessed we rightly recognize it's importance for the situation at hand. Blessings can even come into our lives later in life when we weren't in need. Which ever way we experience our blessings, it is always a good thing. Some blessings takes us into abundance and some blessings helps us get by. Some people are blessed and don't know it and some people pray for blessings.

The scriptures say,
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no change or shadow of turning", [James 1:17]

We see from reading what God did in the Old Testament that He always wanted to bless those He considered His. He always wants the best for us. The best blessing that He has given us is His Son. This month we celebrate the birth of The Messiah, the one who leads us to greener pastures, still waters and is able to restore our souls. We are blessed through a relationship with Him. The “blessed” are those who know Him, respond to Him, and trust Him. He is "The Blessing From Above".

As we wind down towards the end of 2023 and into a new year, We at LCCIV pray that you have a safe, wonderful and blessed Christmas and New Year.

"If Not For His Grace…", how would you finish that sentence? The Grace of God is what we need because it is what enables us to move forward in Our relationship with Him. Grace helps us to see and recognize the goodness of God in our lives. It's by God's grace that we have an abundant life of blessings. The blessing of God's grace for us is His way to empower us, protect us, and to guide us to the path of righteousness and most of all to give us hope.

Grace breaks the bondages of sin that controls us and holds us up and keeps us going in times of testing. It is Grace that helps us see that we can receive the forgiveness that has been established at the cross. Undeserved favor from God is meant for us to live the life that He has purposed for us. As we live our lives in this world full of tests, trials and tribulations, God's grace in our lives keeps us motivated and serves as a reminder that we are never alone no matter what we encounter. Grace remains in valley moments and doesn’t dissipate in our mountain top experiences.

The Grace of God is always availiable for us because it's a gift and is freely given to those who put their trust in Jesus Christ. We read in the book of Romans, Paul writes to the Church in Rome, "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins". (Romans 3:23-24)

This month LCCIV will be focusing on the Grace Of God. Our theme is "GRACE FOR EVERY SEASON".
Come and join us as we look into the Word of God learn more about His undeserved and unmerited favor for you.
