I’m not just bringing food — I’m bringing Spirit & Soul. 🍽️💚

From the streets of Chicago to the heart of the South, my mission has always been more than catering. I believe food is a bridge — a way to gather, heal, and celebrate who we are. That’s why I’m inviting churches, nonprofits, and schools to partner with me for:
✨ Monthly or quarterly Free Community Meals
✨ Dinner & a Movie nights
✨ Heritage cooking demonstrations
✨ Community storytelling events

And for this weekend only, I’ll be featuring a $5 Pop-Up Event Menu so everyone can get a taste:

I thought I was done with Spirit & Soul.
I deleted the website. I laid it down. I told myself I was moving in a new direction. Why? Because what I thought God had for me next didn’t include food… and catering felt like something from another life.

But on Thursday, I got a call out of nowhere.
Not just any call: a request for Spirit & Soul Catering and Community to show up at the Taste of Austin. A door I’ve prayed to walk through for six years. A moment I thought had passed me by. It was a lot to process.

And honestly? It felt like a contradiction.
Just over a week ago, I publicly shared about stepping back. About walking away. But the truth is, my whole purpose for rededicating my life was to realign myself and position my heart toward trust, obedience, and surrender. Not control.
This? This wasn’t my plan. But it might just be His.
So I said yes.

Not to return to what I was doing, but to reintroduce who I’m becoming.
This isn’t just about food.
It’s about feeding people again, with presence, purpose, and peace.
The table is set again. And this time, it’s different.
Spirit and Soul is back. Not as a business, but as a ministry.
Where the experience feeds your spirit, and the food feeds your soul.
I share this to encourage someone who might feel like they’re being rerouted or redirected. For anyone in a season of uncertainty or redirection. This isn't just a reintroduction of Spirit & Soul Catering + Community, it’s a reminder that God writes in circles, not straight lines. Sometimes obedience looks like walking away. Other times, it looks like walking back, but differently.
Both require trust.

Thank you to educators Brittani Dixon and Anleeta Eaton-Buchanan for the invite to do a cooking demo for the kiddos at Spencer Elementary Technology Academy. We made Lemon Pepper Chicken, Spring Strawberry Salad with Walnuts and a Mandarin Orange and Pound Cake parfait with raspberries. They were hilarious 😂 and I enjoyed serving you guys!

To test my new menu, I’m creating a tasting experience through pop-ups and good eats for my new concept, Rufus. I’m looking to partner with barbershops, hair salons, schools, and local businesses to bring indoor or curbside pop-up food experiences to your space for lunch. Let’s create something unique for your customers—whether it’s a one-time event, weekend special, or monthly feature.

I'll be slangin' grilled sliders (chicken + mississippi chicken sausage) 2 for $10 with slaw and banana pudding. Pull up to the Pop-up.

Who We Are Spirit & Soul Catering Company was birthed out of a desire to help. We are passionate about our food, the people that we serve, and the communities that we strive to help and improve.

Spirit & Soul is a catering company meets pop-up supper club that infuses the best elements of Chicago with a hybrid menu of Southern inspired cuisine including sandwiches, soups and salads. where we specialize in Southern Cuisine with that Midwest Swing!

Quality of food, community, and service are the primary objectives of Spirit & Soul. Our goal is to create an experience that feeds your spirit, and offer food that feeds your soul by providing complete services for you and your guests.

Spirit & Soul offers services which include elegant Chicago wedding receptions, family reunions, spa parties, once in a lifetime proms, stepper sets, children parties, awesome sweet sixteens, birthday parties and celebrations, Christian and church functions, and fun corporate events. Through experience, music knowledge, and resources, we are able to customize each occasion to your specific needs for a successful, fun, and memorable event. Your Event, Your Way Spirit & Soul makes planning and holding a catered event easy. We handle the catering so you can focus on what really matters — your guests and your special day. We welcome the opportunity to customize selections to suit our clients' dietary, taste and budgetary needs. Although we have some set packages, we often offer suggestions and guidance on menu selections. Sometimes, we even help people play on a theme or special idea. In this way, we can adapt items as side dishes, trays or full entrees. We take pride in our ability to tailor all of our food offerings to your needs. We provide you with unparalleled flexibility to make the food and music for your event distinctively special.

Spirit & Soul Supper Club

Our monthly Supper Club series of pop-up dinner parties intertwine your soul and spirit to help serve a feast for your senses by creating memorable experiences in an atmosphere that is engaging and honest, giving our guests the opportunity to gather and connect with other like-minded enthusiasts to share life and relationship through food and conversation.

Spirit & Soul’s Supper Club features Chef Jermaine Richardson’s fusion of Southern inspired cookery, curated with prix fixe menus along with libations, wines and cocktail/mocktail pairings by mixologist Chris Kyles, infused with inspirational local artists and musicians partnering with the common goal to change the landscape of Chicago’s urban communities.

Our goal is to show love through our food and welcome folks into our space and encourage them to feel like family, by starting off the evening with a full hour of house-made craft highlighted mocktails, stories and mingling, followed by a “contemporary soul food” inspired five-course meal. Our intention is to create an experience with music that feeds your spirit, and food that feeds your soul.
