Special thank you to Reverend Karin Tunnell for filling in as pastor yesterday! Her message about loving ALL of our neighbors, even those people we get along with the least, is a difficult task for any Christian, but we need that reminder frequently! Excited as can be! While our pastor is away on vacay, the guest speaker tomorrow at our 9:30 AM worship service, is Rev. Karin Tunnell. Join us for worship in our Christ building, located at 401 High Street, in friendly downtown Chestertown. The choir will be singing and you will be blessed!

Hey, let's go off on a historical tangent for a moment. Methodist pastors have changed in the past century!

Remember famous novelist & philanthropist Sophie Kerr, made even more famous by Washington College? She demonstrates what Methodist pastors used be like in the old days of 1920's Chestertown with this quote from her 1922 novel "One Thing is Certain:"

"The Presiding Elder's cruel glorying certainty cast tremors of fear over his hearers, they shuddered in the warm night. '. . . the echoing groans and screams of sinners' lost souls in the eternal, untellable agony of punishment . . . BURNING FOREVER . . . BURNING FOREVER . . . yet always unconsumed, because THEIR TORTURE IS ETERNAL'. . ."
