I was cutting some brush in the community garden this morning. Felt a place on my ankle that was itching. Guess what, found my first tick of the year. 😖

The first step for Cherokee Villagers New United Methodist Church Community Garden. The new garden will be entirely a
Raised bed garden. Easy on our backs to enjoy the fruits of our labors.

I would to thank Robert Watts and Rick and Bonnie Patterson for their help this past Saturday. On cutting and dragging the brush. We will need one more day on brush dragging and small amount of cutting to complete the first step of garden project.

The heat has killed almost every tomato plant, so our tomatoes are just about done. We are awaiting the digging of potatoes and more squash. The bell peppers continue to grow, as do the zucchini, garlic, sweet potatoes, jalapenos and herbs. The fall garden plans are in the works.

Yesterday produced the first tomato from our garden. It may have been small but how great to finally have a tomato ready. Lots of tomatoes are on the vines. Looking forward to sharing the harvest with others. A big thanks to Al Weinerman for installing our drip irrigation system.

Guess what these are?!?!?!
