Today in the month of Abib, you are going out." Exodus 13:4
This week marks another transition in the life of Faith Fellowship. For a little over three years we have met and worshiped in the Uwharrie Point Community Association building. Never did we envision it as a permanent home, but at the same time, it served a purpose and provided us with a place to meet. It was never ideal, but it was warm in the winter and cool in the summer. As of Wednesday morning, we have bid farewell to that space and now we embark on a journey of unknown length and duration. I am reminded of God's words to Abram in Genesis 11, "Go out from your land, your relatives, and your father's house to the land that I will show you." Please don't get me wrong, I am in no way comparing our situation to Abram's. But there was certainly a sense of the unknown as Abram left Ur. I'm sure there was a sense of the unknown as the Israelites left the land of Egypt as well. Did they want to be in Egypt? Heaven's no! At the same time there was no way to predict what lay ahead of them over the next forty years.
As we leave our former home I pray that we will go knowing that the same God that lead Abram and Israel is the same God that guides us. As I said before, we simply don't know where the Lord will lead us next, nor how long this journey will be. My hope and desire is that we follow him confidently, unapologetically, and unshakably.
For now, the truth is we're going to look a lot more like a church in the book of Acts than anything most of us are accustomed to in our American, evangelical culture. You know what? That's okay. I trust that if we are faithful to God's design for his church, then there will be fruit. We will continue to gather together for worship, prayer, fellowship, and studying God's Word for another week, month, year, or ten years. The rest is up to him.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Pastor Christian
