In the Orthodox tradition there is a special liturgy where the priest confesses before the people and then absolves the people.

I've heard some of your confessions.

Will you hear mine?

I want to tell you something that I deal with each week before I consecrate the Eucharist each week.

Before I pray down the Spirit on to the bread and wine to make it the body and blood. I have to face my own body and blood.

What do I mean?
I mean that i am a Priest with bipolar disorder who leads a small missional, q***r safe space, healing Catholic community each week and I don't know who I will wake up as on any given Sunday.

Will I want to climb Everest? Will Everest be the space between my bed and my bathroom? It's 6 feet btw!

Sometimes I stretch my hands of the elements, and they are shaky and other days I drag through the Mass barely being able to lift a finger.

Why do i tell you this?

I say this because... Before the priest gets in Persona Christi, they first deal with the person that is the priest.

*They carry the times people hurt their feelings that week.
*The carry the sleep they probably didn't get much of.
*They carry their childhood.
*They carry the expectations of living in a world where few people can bring to the world what God has placed within them to do.
*They carry all of themselves.

When you meet a priest, tell them that god loves them.
Ask them if today has been ok.
If you see me at the Altar, remember, I may be dragging through Mass or saying it too fast because. I am who i am.

Jesus is present!
With his body and blood even when mine is acting the hell up.

The incarnation is a non-negotiable centerpiece of the Christian life. A daily returning to the marriage of flesh and divinity is one of the holiest aspects of the Christian discipline. Not alone but in the mystery of the interconnectedness of the mystical body. This reminds us to not forget our neighbor's body not their soul. God has wedded inner and outer salvation and that is a miracle.
