So this just came ❤️
We do appreciate the love from WAA

For ANYONE else interested,
wreaths are available to purchase beginning in July

We will not however,
be planning a formal ceremony
this year

For the past two years,
we have not even been able to secure a color guard

Aside from the very first year,
there is no interest from the community to honor these men nor the sacred history of this site

Last year,
only myself, my aunt, uncle and daughter presented to lay the wreaths

Having multiple military family members, we were able to honor all of the military branches

Kenny and I, are thankful for those who did help by purchasing wreaths

Again our number is 27

Initially ,we had planned to also lay at
Raimer Family Cemetery

The church however,
laid their own wreaths last year and our wreaths were not needed

We did lay wreaths at the memorial located at the Scotland Ballpark

If you are a family member of an interred soldier in Mountain Green
or would like to assist in placing wreaths this year,
please let us know !!

We also have a raking “party” in the fall
sometime in October

This cemetery is a labor of love for us
however,
aside from asking for wreath donations
we don’t plan to continue to encourage others to join us,
because it is painful obvious that there is no outside interest

In preparation for the 2023 WAA at Mountain Green Cemetery

We are looking for:

An Honor Guard for the flag ceremony

A bugler or trumpet player 🎺 to play TAPS

An active service
Veteran or Family Member to assist with honoring each military branch

We also need someone to place the POW Honor Wreath (Veteran or family)

My husband and I can technically place:

🇺🇸Army

🇺🇸Navy

🇺🇸Airforce

🇺🇸Marines

and even
🇺🇸Space Force if we need to
(it is a branch of the USAF)

We definitely need
🇺🇸Coast Guard
and
🇺🇸POW

This is a community event and as so we want to involve the community
especially those with family interred in Mountain Green
