This week’s reflection begins with two things few people enjoy hearing: “I have something to tell you” and “It’s time for the treadmill.” Both have a way of raising the heart rate. When Jesus tells the disciples about his coming suffering and death, Peter reacts as many of us would: “God forbid, Lord!” Poor Peter goes from class valedictorian to the principal’s office in two verses. Yet Jesus reminds Peter, and all of us, faith means following him through fear, sacrifice, illness, and uncertainty. The Cross is real, but it never has the final word. Christ remains beside us through every difficult appointment, every painful conversation, and every trip back onto the treadmill. Click below to read this week’s reflection.

Our hearts are filled with joy as we watch our young parishioners and St. Mary School graduates continue their journey at Centralia High School. Griffin, Tucker, Blaise, and Callen are members of the CHS varsity soccer team, and we are incredibly proud of these fine young men. Their hard work, teamwork, friendship, and dedication reflect the strong foundation formed by their families, school, and parish.

A heartfelt thank-you goes to their parents for remembering SMS and our parish and for sharing these wonderful moments with us. Once an SMS Defender, always part of our parish family. Griffin, Tucker, Blaise, and Callen, your parish family is cheering for you, praying for you, and wishing you a great season. Play hard, play together, and make us proud!
