When Love Crosses the Line: Understanding Manipulation in Parent-Adult Child Relationships**

As parents, we all want the best for our children, even after they become adults. But sometimes, without realizing it, fear, expectations, or a desire to stay connected can turn into guilt, control, or emotional pressure instead of healthy communication.

At this gathering, we’ll have an honest, grace-filled conversation about:
- What emotional manipulation can look like in parent-adult child relationships
- The difference between influence, guidance, and control
- How guilt, obligation, and fear can damage trust
- Why healthy boundaries strengthen relationships
- Practical ways to communicate with love while honoring your adult child’s independence

Come be encouraged, equipped, and reminded that love and wisdom can walk together.

As a parent, have you ever heard or been the one to say:

“I guess you don’t love me.”
“After everything I’ve done for you…”
“If you really cared, you would…”

Sometimes manipulation is obvious. Other times it’s subtle and can even be passed down through generations without us realizing it.

Let’s talk about it.

Next Chapter Parent Ministry
Topic: Parents Who Use Manipulation

This will be a safe, honest conversation about recognizing unhealthy patterns, setting healthy boundaries, and learning how God’s Word teaches us to love without control.

Question for you:
What do you think is the difference between influence and manipulation?

Share your thoughts in the comments. Let’s start the conversation before we meet.

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” — John 8:32

When Love Crosses the Line: Understanding Manipulation in Parent-Adult Child Relationships

As parents, most of us want what’s best for our children, even long after they’ve left the nest. However, sometimes without realizing it, our fears, expectations, or desire to stay connected can lead us to use guilt, control, or emotional pressure instead of healthy communication.

At our next Next Chapter Parent Ministry gathering, we’ll have an honest, grace-filled conversation about:
• What emotional manipulation looks like in parent-adult child relationships
• The difference between influence, guidance, and control
• How guilt, obligation, and fear can damage trust
• Why healthy boundaries actually strengthen relationships
• Practical ways to communicate with love while respecting your adult child’s independence

We invite you to join us for a time of encouragement, honest conversation, and biblical wisdom.

“Hope for the Journey”

Depression is real. Feelings of hopelessness, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts are affecting many individuals and families today. As parents and caregivers, we are often left wondering how to help, what signs to look for, and where to turn for support.

Join us for a safe, honest, and encouraging conversation as we discuss depression, recognize warning signs, and learn practical and faith-based ways to support those we love.

📅 June 27th
🕚 11:00 AM
📍 Church Without Walls
Greene Building

☕ Coffee and donuts will be provided.

Scripture:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

No matter how dark the season may seem, there is hope in Christ. You are not alone, and neither are your children. Together, we can break the silence, support one another, and point families toward healing, hope, and restoration.

We invite parents, grandparents, caregivers, and anyone who wants to better understand and support loved ones struggling with depression.

💙 Come be encouraged.
💙 Come find support.
💙 Come discover hope.

Because every child matters, and every family deserves hope.
