WILDFIRES TEAR ACROSS EUROPE, ONE DEAD AND THOUSANDS FLEEING FROM FRANCE TO CROATIA
Fires are burning simultaneously across France, Germany, Greece, Croatia and the UK as record-breaking heat and months of drought turn the continent into a tinderbox. In Croatia, a wind-driven blaze tore into the tourist town of Omis overnight, killing one person and sending 14 to the hospital, seven in life-threatening condition. Witnesses said people jumped into the sea as boats caught fire around them. In Germany, 1,800 residents were evacuated from the village of G*y as flames crept toward homes near the Belgian border, with old World War II munitions buried in the forest exploding as the fire reached them. In France, a fresh blaze in the Landes forest forced hundreds to flee their homes. Greece placed Athens under the highest possible fire alert as winds gusted past 68 miles per hour. Scripture warned that in the last days heat itself would become a weapon of judgment: “Power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat” (Revelation 16:8-9). An entire continent is on fire at once, and it is only getting worse. How much more must burn before the world takes notice?
