THE DOOR THAT DIDN’T OPEN | Messy Jesus
A few weeks before Lexi and I moved to New Jersey, I went through four interviews for a job at C2 Education.
At the time, I wanted that door to open.
It didn’t.
And what felt like another disappointment in a season where so much already felt like it was collapsing was actually preparation for where God was taking us next.
I drive by this building often on my way to work now, and every time I see it, I’m grateful.
The hours would have been late. Lexi was walking through a miscarriage. Our lives were changing quickly, and looking back, I can see how differently our story may have unfolded if I had gotten what I was asking God for.
Some of the opportunities, relationships, and doors that didn’t work out may not have been rejection.
They may have been redirection.
Let me be clear: there is a real enemy who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. And sometimes our own choices create unnecessary pain and consequences.
But there are also moments when a closed door is simply God protecting you from something that doesn’t fit where He’s taking you.
Had that door opened, I may have never met some of the incredible people I’ve met, worked the jobs I’ve worked, or experienced the opportunities God has brought into our lives since moving here.
Sometimes what feels like everything falling apart is actually God rearranging your life for what comes next.
Don’t judge the faithfulness of God by one closed door.
You may drive past it one day and thank Him it never opened.
That’s Messy Jesus.
