It is so heartwarming to see the impact of our Day of Service through the eyes of our partners! The Chelsea Hicks Foundation just shared a beautiful blog post titled "A Room Full of Yes," reflecting on the energy and love our community brought to their mission.

They captured the spirit of the day perfectly—from the 37 fleece blankets to the 200 nail kits that will soon bring "a pop of color and a little sparkle" to children in local hospitals.
Take a moment to read their story and see the "behind the scenes" of how your service helps kids just be kids again, even in the middle of a hospital stay.

Thank you to everyone who said "Yes" and made this possible!

Gratitude & Impact: Community Women’s Day of Service 2026

What an incredible outpouring of love! This past April 18th, our community came together for the Community Women’s Day of Service, and the results were nothing short of inspiring.

With 180 to 190 participants—including neighbors from across the community—we logged an estimated 5️⃣4️⃣0️⃣ service hours in a single morning. From crafting handmade cards to building beds, the energy was focused on one goal: loving our neighbors.

The Impact by the Numbers:

Our "Sisters in Christ" and community volunteers worked tirelessly to complete an amazing array of projects:

Supporting Health & Comfort:
• 25 pints of blood donated to the American Red Cross.
• 75 clothing protectors and 40 crocheted granny squares for blankets.
• 37 tied blankets and 200 nail kits for Chelsea’s Closet.
• 190 paper flowers for Rose Haven Day Shelter.

Feeding the Community:
• 235 brown bag lunches for FHSM and OJF.
• 35 grocery bags of food delivered to The Canby Center.
• Additional food support provided to local YSA and families.

Education & Connection:
• 400 Christmas cards crafted for Meals on Wheels.
• 378 books donated to Colton Lutheran.
• 54 letters of gratitude written for Operation Gratitude.
• 48 care kits and 70 specialized "Blessing Bags" for new mothers and migrant families.

Building & Beautifying:
• 12 bunk beds built with bedding for Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
• 1 massive garden trellis built and installed at the Gladstone Community Center.
• Colton Middle School grounds weeded, mowed, and beautified with fresh flowers.

Thank You!

A huge thank you to the Oregon City Stake Relief Society and all the local organizations that partnered with us to make this day possible.
Whether you stayed for an hour or the whole day, your hands helped lift someone else’s burden. We are better when we serve together!

Did you know that chose its name because they believe every guest is like a rose—filled with both actual and potential beauty? 🌹 Since 1997, they’ve been a vital sanctuary in Portland, providing everything from warm meals to a safe mailing address. It’s amazing to see how a community-driven organization can change so many lives.

Did you know? The center has been a staple of the Gladstone community since 1981. While the building has seen many upgrades (like its beautiful new facade and patio in recent years), it has remained the heart of Portland Avenue for over four decades, connecting generations of residents.

Why do YOU serve?

Did you know? The entire “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” international movement started in 2012 in a single garage in Twin Falls, Idaho, when founder Luke Mickelson built one bunk bed for a local family in need.
