We have lost another part of the WGSL family. Barbara Caviezal was the wife of Joe Caviezel who was our President for two years in the 70's. Here are the words from Lisa Caviezel-Fields:

Mom is no longer suffering from Parkinson’s.😢 It was so hard to see her in pain and watch her beautiful smile fade away the past couple years.💔

I took a much needed break from social media for Lent and wasn’t sure I wanted to get back on but also wanted to let friends and family know we are planning a service on May 1 to celebrate our beautiful mom.

I put this on my FB page but thought it was appropriate for here. After all, it is softball related. My head was 6" behind the camera but the camera took all of the abuse. But as I said on my page, "Sometimes you just have to say, 'BULLSEYE!'"

I posted this in error yesterday on the wrong FB page. Forgive me!

I am always so sad when I get this information. Yesterday morning we lost Frank Sandello to complications from his stroke. Please keep the Sandello family in your prayers. Frank was yet another personal friend we have lost

Donna Sandello sent a message about her dad, Frank. Please keep him in your prayers.

When life gives you twists and turns…On 2/18, my father, Frank Sandello, suffered a stroke. I was with him when it happened. He has been at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage. He has suffered some setbacks, including pneumonia, C. diff, gastric bleed, and confusion. It has been a very emotional roller coaster, to say the least. Today, we were told he would need to be transferred to a LTAC (long-term acute care), and my anxiety went into overload, but after speaking to several people, I was told he will get the care he needs, including more physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. We thought we were going to lose him on Monday, but he pulled through. He may not be perfect to everyone, but he is my father. Once we find out which facility he will be at, I will let you know; it will be out of the Coachella Valley, as there isn't one locally.

I just received sad news regarding Pat Pendray Small. Cindy Bailey sent word that Pat had passed away earlier this month. No further information is available but Pat loved WGSL and the "Oldtimers" page and had many friends from her coaching days. My prayers go out to all those that supported her.

An update for Carmen Sweeney.

This site was created for our softball family to enjoy. It breaks my heart when I post messages like this and at Christmas time it is even more difficult. But I know there are many who would want to know. Today at 4:27, we lost Carmen Sweeney to cancer. Please keep Mike and Michelle and all of the family in your prayers. For those that made it to our get together in September, we will always carry that memory of our time with Carmen. 😢🙏💔✝️

And to our Jewish friends, Happy Hanukkah!

A message from Michelle Sweeney-Werling regarding her mom. Please keep their family in your prayers!

My mom Carmen LaBarbera Sweeney was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last December…She is so strong and such a fighter (as we all know) Lol!
Mom has been doing good but last month she had excruciating pain and has been in the hospital….
My Mom is now home from the hospital, resting and following doctor’s orders.
Thank you all so much for your continued Love, Support & Prayers as we navigate thru this journey💜🙏We love you all😘

I posted this as a reply to an other post so many of you may not have seen it. Please take note:

I have decided I am going to do this every year even if only a few attend. Seeing everyone and reminiscing about a large part of our families lives for so many years will always be special. Not do anything special, just set a date, bring a chair, and your memories to share. Maybe others will drift in that have never attended or maybe once before. So many families. the Allens, the Alvaneys, the Cliftons, the Coors, the Gallos, the LaFleurs, the Lanes, the Lemms, the Lenzens, the McElraths, the Milburns, the Norsworthys, the Palmers, the Pendrays, the Platis family (How do you make Platis plural?), the Pratts, Robin Raymond, the Sandellos, the Sandovals, the Sharps, the Smiths, the Stiths, the Strikes, the Sweenys, the Winbergs. I know I have left so many out but how many of these names bring back special memories? See you all next year, God willing!!

When I posted the pictures from yesterday's get together, my curiosity of the other pictures made me go back and look. I am betting there are pictures on this page that you would enjoy seeing again, in particular, so many pictures of our "Family" that are no longer with us. You might be glad you looked back!!
