🎉 Gordon County has a brand-new venue, and many got their first look during the Star-Spangled Celebration!

The new Northwest Georgia Agriculture & Event Center at the Northwest Georgia Regional Fairgrounds is officially open and can host anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 people. County leaders hope it becomes the home for everything from livestock shows and concerts to trade shows and community events.

In the North Georgia Mountains you can say your vows beneath a waterfall taller than Niagara Falls at Toccoa Falls, one of Georgia’s most beautiful and easy-to-reach natural sights. The waterfall drops 186 feet in a straight, free-falling sheet over a tall rock face, creating a ceremony backdrop that feels almost too pretty to be real. It’s tucked away on the wooded campus of the University of Toccoa Falls, a 1,100-acre setting in northeast Georgia that gives the whole place a quiet, tucked-away mountain feel. Because Toccoa Falls is one of the tallest free-falling waterfalls east of the Mississippi River, it’s a favorite for wedding photos, peaceful visits, and anyone who wants to stand close to a truly powerful waterfall without a long hike.

Another reason people love it here is how simple it is to visit. From the Gate Cottage entrance, it’s only about a 100-yard walk along a graveled path to reach the base of the falls, making it one of the most accessible waterfall views in the region. Admission is just $2 per person and is paid inside the gift shop at Gate Cottage, which also serves as the entrance to the falls. The shop carries souvenirs, books, local gifts, artwork, candles, soaps, jewelry, and University of Toccoa Falls items. Whether you come for a wedding, photos, or just a calm afternoon in the mountains, Toccoa Falls is one of those places that feels simple, scenic, and unforgettable the moment you arrive.
