Good Friday or in older terminology“Holy Friday”

Jesus has been arrested and is taken away to be questioned for blasphemy. In the middle of the night, he is taken before Annas a former hight priest and then Ciaphas and the Sanhedrin (Jewish Counsil). They accuse him of blasphemy after he affirms he is the Messiah. Peter denies Jesus 3 times before the rooster crows.

Early morning: Jesus faces Roman trials and is brought before Potius Pilate where he finds no fault in him and sends him to Herod the ruler of Galilee. He mocks Jesus and sends him back to Pilate. Pilate ultimately yeilds to a mock crowd who demands the release of Barabbas instead of Jesus and sentences Jesus to crusifixion. Romans soldiers scourge him and mock him with a crown of thorns, a purple robe.

Jesus is forced to carry his cross to Golgotha outside of Jerusalem. He is crucified between two criminals, one of which recognizes Jesus as “Lord” and will be with Jesus in Paradise.

Noon to 3pm… Darkness cover the land at about 3pm Jesus dies. Miraculous signs occur, the earth quakes, the temple veil is torn top to bottom, tombs open and those that were buried are seen alive by many witnesses.

Late afternoon, Joseph of Arimathea places Jesus in a tomb which is then sealed and guards are placed at the entrance.

Thursday of Passion/ Holy Week.

Jesus shares the Passover meal with the disciples where He predicts His betrayal by one of them. He institutes communion where the bread represents His body and the wine, His blood. He speaks to them of His impending suffering and death. He washes the disciples feet, and preaches to them. Later they would travel to the garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prays to the father fervently to the point of sweating drops of blood, while the disciples sleep nearby. Jesus is arrested.

On Tuesday of Passion Week.

Jesus and the disciples pass by the wilted fig tree that he had cursed the day before for having leaves but not producing fruit. He taught the desciples on being productive in our faith and not just appearing to be productive in appearance only. He taught the disciples the power of believing and in the power of prayer and the power of believing in those prayers.

Jesus preaches to many religious leaders in the temple courts and is challenged by many who would try and trap him in his ministry. The religious leaders were trying to find any fault that they could in his ministry and they questioned him saying “By what authority do you say these things”? They leave angered and more determined to trap Jesus.

This is the day THE LORD has made: understanding that He has gone ahead and created it and made Himself apart of it, I will rejoice and be glad in it; because He has created the day I am about to live in. Knowing He made it, I will worship in it, I will overcome in it, I will find Him in it.

This is the day!

Satan does not chase the lost; he, chases the chosen. There is a reason he looks at you, because he knows you can defeat him. He is just not certain if you are aware of the power within you, so he will test it.
