Little known fact, but there is a food insecurity among medical residents in Buffalo NY. Unlike other programs in the US, Buffalo residencies do not give stipends or easy access to healthy meals.

CMDA of WNY has partnered with Revive Wesleyan Church to try and bridge that gap!

We were able to supply 80+ home made meals (each with a personalized encouragement card) to medical residents at Buffalo General Medical Center and Children's Hospital of Buffalo.

One of the themes that continues to come up in conversations with medical students and residents is that the demands of training often make it difficult to maintain basic rhythms of rest, community, and healthy eating. Long shifts, overnight call, and time away from family can leave many residents feeling unseen and underappreciated.

In response, CMDA of WNY is partnering with Revive Wesleyan Church to prepare and deliver approximately 80 healthy meals to medical residents at Buffalo General and Golisano's Children’s Hospital on Wednesday, July 29th. Our hope is that this small act of kindness reminds residents that the Church of Western New York sees them, appreciates their sacrifice, and is praying for them.

We are looking for CMDA volunteers who would be willing to help in one of three ways:

Donate food or ingredients toward the meal preparation
Help cook and prepare meals on Tuesday, July 28th (at Revive Wesleyan Church)
Help deliver meals to residents on Wednesday, July 29th (approximately 6 PM)

We are excited to share that CMDA of WNY will be expanding from our downtown center to a new, larger space at Amherst Baptist Church. This move gives us a wonderful opportunity to grow, allowing us to serve more students, residents, and healthcare professionals at no additional cost.

As part of this transition, we will be hosting a garage sale to help us thoughtfully clear and repurpose our current space. Please save the date for opportunities to stop by on December 17th, 19th, and 20th from 4-8 PM.
