Rose In Concrete’s October Facilitator Appreciation Spotlight: THE Dr. Phee Sterling-Thompson 🌹

There are people who give their time, and then there are people who give a piece of themselves. Dr. Phee, we are grateful that you did both. Some people walk into a room and teach a lesson. Others walk in and leave a seed that continues to grow long after they leave. Dr. Phee, you did exactly that.

The Rose In Concrete family wants to take a moment to celebrate YOU. Thank you for making room in your schedule to pour into our youth, mentors, and leadership team. Your willingness to show up, share your knowledge, and open up about your own life experiences speaks volumes about the woman you are and the heart you carry for others.

What made your presence so special was not just what you taught, but how you taught it. You were real, vulnerable, transparent, and unapologetically authentic. You allowed your experiences to become lessons, your wisdom to become guidance, and your voice to become an opportunity for someone else to see things differently. That takes courage, and we do not take that lightly.

Our October sessions challenged our youth to explore “Who Am I?” by discovering their strengths, identifying their purpose, and understanding what it truly means to lead without following the crowd. You reminded us that leadership is not defined by a title or position, but by our actions, the courage to use our voices, and our willingness to pour into others. Through your wisdom and example, you showed our youth that true leadership starts within. That is an impact worth celebrating.

Dr. Phee, thank you for being willing to share not just your knowledge, but your story. Thank you for giving our village something meaningful to carry beyond the session.

This October, we celebrate the woman behind the wisdom, the heart behind the knowledge, and the purpose behind the work. We pray that the same encouragement and inspiration you give to others continue to find their way back to you.

With love, honor, and sincere appreciation,

The Rose In Concrete Family 🌹

🚨MEET THE MENTORS 🚨

We’re excited to introduce a amazing individual take a moment to meet Mrs Cecilia Muñoz, and hear her WHY! 👏🏽🌹Cecilia Muñoz has dedicated over 15 years to working in education and supporting children and families.

Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work closely with students from many different backgrounds, and those experiences have strengthened her passion for helping young people recognize their worth, make positive choices, and understand that their circumstances do not have to determine their future.

Her passion for mentoring also comes from her own life experiences. Growing up, Cecilia faced challenges that taught her at an early age the importance of having someone in your corner someone who will listen, encourage you, hold you accountable, and remind you that you are capable of more.

That is one of the reasons she chose a career in education and why becoming a Rose in Concrete mentor means so much to her.

“I don’t care if I’m called a mentor, helper, supporter, or simply someone they can count to show up for them. I just want to help our youth do better and avoid some of the mistakes I made growing up. If my story, experiences, or encouragement can help even one young person choose a better path, that is a win for me.”

Our youth need people who are willing to show up, listen without immediately judging them, and remind them that where they come from does not determine where they are going. I’m excited and grateful to become part of the Rose in Concrete family and to continue doing what has always been close to my heart helping our youth grow, succeed, and become the best version of themselves.
