Everyday Fiat

Everyday Fiat Saying "yes" to God every day, even on laundry day. For Catholic parenting courses + retreats, visit ablazefamilies.mykajabi.com

Hi, I’m Jennifer.
Stay-at-home mom of four. Master’s degree in theology. Author of Sacred Chaos. Co-host of the Everyday Fiat podcast. And someone who regularly feeds her kids pizza for dinner and counts it as a win. (Supreme pizzas count as a vegetable, right?)

This account is for the Catholic mom who loves Jesus and is doing her best in the beautiful, exhausting, ordinary chaos of family life.

Everyday Fiat is named after the word Mary said to the angel- fiat, let it be. Not when I’m ready. Not when it makes sense. Just yes, Lord. Even now. Even here. Even in this mess.

That small, daily yes- in the laundry, in the tantrums, in the seasons that don’t look like you planned… that’s what we’re doing here together.
I’m so glad you found this little corner of the internet. Stay a while. 🌿

📖 Sacred Chaos: Finding Joy and Jesus in the Messiness of Motherhood is available now on Amazon and the Ave Maria Press website! Or comment SACRED CHAOS and I’ll send you a link.

Family prayer sounds beautiful... in theory. In practice, someone always cries, runs away, or asks for a snack.

But it is SO worth it. And it doesn't have to be perfect to be powerful.

Swipe for 5 real steps to get started:

👉 Start with ONE minute, not twenty
👉 Let the kids lead sometimes (yes, even the wild ones)
👉 Tie it to something you already do (dinner, bedtime)
👉 When it falls apart... laugh and start again (or keep moving forward!)
👉 Consistency > perfection, always

"God desires your children's holiness more than you do."

Read that again. Slowly.

You don't have to have it all together to lead your kids to Jesus. You just have to keep showing up. Imperfectly, faithfully, fiat by fiat. 🙏

Save this one for the hard days + share with a parent who needs this

Once again, Mamma Mary comes through with all the right words, doing what she does best, which is point us to Christ.
God will not be mocked. He will not be used for the ends of men. He casts down the mighty from their thrones, and lifts up the lowly. He knows the hearts and the intentions of all.

Most marriages don't fall apart. They drift.

Swipe through to see if any of these feel familiar, and what we built Marriage on Mission to help with.

- Conversations are only about logistics
- You can't remember the last time you prayed together (if ever)
- Date nights feel like going through the motions
- You feel more like co-managers than partners
- You love each other... but miss each other

Marriage on Mission is a guided retreat you do from home together. No babysitter needed. 💍

He is risen, yall!!!

Over 2000 years ago, the Roman government tortured and executed a man who claimed to be God, in the most horrific way imaginable: crucifixion. When he died, his followers freaked. They hid. Just a few days later, one of the women went by his tomb, and discovered that not only had the stone been rolled away, but the guards that had been tasked with guarding the tomb had scattered, and Jesus had resurrected from the dead!

This story is told in detail in the Gospel accounts, followed by over 2000 years of oral tradition, of passing on the story. But how can we trust that this story is true? I mean, it happened thousands of years ago, right? It’s it’s a lie, its the biggest hoax known to man. But if it’s true... then God, the star-breather, abased Himself so low as to become one of us.

We know that Jesus did in fact exist; we have plenty of secular accounts that attest to that. But did he really rise from the dead? Here is the criteria that scholars have used for centuries: The fact that a woman, whose testimony was considered to be unreliable even in court, is the first to witness to his resurrection is the first clue. Someone trying to trick the masses would have instead claimed that a highly respected man witnessed the resurrection. The second is that throughout the Gospels, the apostles look like idiots. They are constantly being reproved, constantly messing up. Even Peter, the leader of the apostles and later the Church, is constantly disciplined. Someone wanting to fool others would make the apostles seem trustworthy and wise, as they would be leading the future Church. And finally, if the apostles really did lie about Jesus’ resurrection, that means they chose to die for a lie. Every single one of them, except John, was martyred for their faith. No one dies for a lie.

If you struggle with your faith, or are not really sure where you stand, bring it to the Lord. Pray the prayer that the Church prays every day, “Lord I believe, help my unbelief”, and know that God will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask.

Happy Easter!!

Good Friday.
The day God didn’t look away from the mess. The day He entered it fully — the suffering, the chaos, the darkness — and said: I am here.

As mothers, we know something about pouring yourself out completely. About exhaustion that goes bone-deep. About love that costs everything.

Today, we stand at the foot of the Cross. We don’t have to have the right words. We just have to be there.

He sees you. He loves you. And Sunday is coming. 🙏

Wishing you a holy and grace-filled Good Friday.

It’s finally here.
Release day.

I’m not sure what I was expecting the day to be like, but thinking about it now, it was oddly fitting.
Being awoken by a hungry 4 year old who can’t decide what she wants to eat. Reading books with kids. Tending a wounded chicken. Dishes. Snuggles. Carrying around a fussy 1 year old. Pokémon. Changing my mind on what dinner will be. Coffee.

It was a pretty normal day, filled with joy and stress and love and frustration and pride. And the presence of the Lord was in it all.

I invite you to join me in discovering Jesus in the midst of the chaos. As of today, my new book “Sacred Chaos: Finding Joy and Jesus in the Messiness of Motherhood” is available for every mom. Each week has a QR code with a playlist of worship songs that go along with each day, and there is a section in the back for small group questions.

Comment SACRED CHAOS in the comments, and I’ll send you a link to my book!

I hope it blesses you like it did me ❤️
