Masses will still be celebrated in person as usual on Saturday, September 5; Sunday, September 6; and Monday, September 7.

Never speak the truth. Keep silent. Always.
Of course, that may be the easier thing to do. But at what cost?

In this week’s reflection, Monsignor Massie asks us to look again at the Cross — not as a familiar symbol we pass by, but as a real sign of suffering, opposition, and faithful love. Like Jeremiah, like the disciples, and like Jesus Himself, we are called to seek truth, uphold the God-given dignity of every person, and speak with courage when injustice and division surround us.

Discipleship is not always comfortable. But the Gospel reminds us that when we love enough to stand for truth, mercy, and human dignity, we may face opposition — and we do not face it alone.

We’re grateful to share that Monsignor Massie has come through his knee replacement surgery and is now resting comfortably and in good spirits.

Monsignor is deeply thankful for everyone who has been praying—for his doctors and nurses, for a successful procedure, and for his recovery. Your prayers and kindness mean so much to him.

Please keep lifting up Monsignor in your prayers as he heals and regains his strength.

Feast of the Assumption — Saturday, August 15

Join us on Saturday, August 15, as we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation that commemorates Mary being taken, body and soul, into heavenly glory. It is a beautiful reminder of the hope we share in Christ and the dignity of our life with God forever.

We will celebrate Mass at 8:30 AM (livestream) and Noon. The Noon Mass will be followed by our annual Ice Cream Social — because as Monsignor Massie likes to say, no Mass, no ice cream!

Our parish is especially blessed to have a statue of Our Lady of the Assumption, the patroness of Monte di Procida, Italy, brought here generations ago from Italy. It remains a cherished sign of faith, memory, and devotion passed down through the years.

Please plan to join us for this joyful feast day as we honor Our Lady and celebrate together as a parish family.

Save the Date: Parish BBQ 2026!

Get ready for a fun-filled afternoon of food, fellowship, and summer vibes as Sacred Hearts & St. Stephen and St. Mary Star of the Sea come together for our annual Parish BBQ!

Mark your calendars: Sunday, September 20 — fun starts at 12:30 PM.

And yes, that’s Monsignor Massie manning the grill in the flyer — okay, maybe it’s an AI version of him, but the smile and energy are 100% real. He’s already reminding everyone that this BBQ is going to be worth the trip.

We’ll need volunteers to help set up, run things during the day, and clean up afterward. We’ll also be accepting donations and desserts for the event — more details to come soon.

Start planning now, bring your friends and family, and get ready for a day of great food, good company, and parish spirit.
