The Lord’s joy is so important to our Christian walk. Regardless of our circumstances; mountain top or valley floor, He makes it available. We just have to choose to receive and live in it.

Psalm 16:11 tells us, “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy;…”. When we receive it and it is evident in us, people notice.

Jesus said in John 15:11, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” His joy is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10), it allows us to let His love flow through to others. It is fuel for our praise to Him that He deserves to hear often. All glory to God for His abundant joy! ❤️

Abundant Joy-a prayer

Lord, with heartfelt, thankful praise
I come to You today,
With delight in all Your Ways
Walk me in them, I pray.

It’s abundant joy you give
So freely, without end,
Filling each day that I live
With love and joy that blend.

Oh how your joy strengthens me
No matter what I face,
In every trial that I see
Fear does not have a place.

Sometimes I forget it’s there
But then I feel Your touch,
Once again I’m so aware
And it fills me so much.

For the joy You placed in me
Help me to let it shine,
So that all those that I see
Ask why this joy of mine.

Let my answer be sincere
As Your love Lord, shines through,
Making it so very clear
My joy’s because of You.

Let it soften their heart Lord
And draw them to believe,
So the joy in You that’s stored
They’re able to receive.

Amen

I love Psalm 100, “1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.

4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. 5 For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.” He is worthy every day, of a joyous celebration! ❤️

A Joyous Celebration

A joyous celebration
I bring before the Lord,
The God of all creation
In whom all hope is stored.

There is nothing You can’t do
My God who set me free,
When my life is filled with You
New miracles I see.

You are perfect, without flaw
Yet You love broken me,
Surrendered with love and awe
My Lord You’ll always be.

You are worthy of all praise
My worship will not cease,
Sovereign Lord, Ancient Of Days
Mighty Prince Of Peace.

Lord, my days are filled with song
Through trials of all length,
It’s in You that I stand strong
For Your joy is my strength.

Let all I do, word and deed
Lord, glorify Your name,
So all see it’s You they need
Who bore our sin and shame.

I will lift Your Name on high
And let Your Spirit shine,
So all know the reason why
For this great hope of mine!

Amen

A View from the Pew-August 10, 2025

See yourself through our Lord's eyes
He knew you before birth,
You're His highly treasured prize
God's child of untold worth!

I love Sunday at our Calvary AOG. To walk through those doors is like a warm embrace. The noise and distractions of the world fall away and you feel strengthened by the joy of the Lord and the love of your church family! That is a gift that never ceases to amaze and humble me. I am so grateful. The Worship Team did what only they can do, lifting our praise to the Lord in a stream of pure, sweet adoration for Jesus. You all are so gifted and wonderful. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Pastor Mike started by saying we are on Part 5 of this series titled Who Am I in Christ. He wants everyone to understand that he's not in this just to preach it, we're living it-all of us. There are always times of growth and discovering who we are in the Lord. If we take the time to look back, we can see the growth He's brought in us.

Pastor did a quick recap of where we've been so far. For the first couple of weeks, we talked about how Moses, Jeremiah and Isaiah felt unworthy for the Lord to use them. Moses was afraid to answer God's call to bring Israel out of Egypt, he didn't feel qualified. How many of us would feel that way? That's a pretty daunting task! Jeremiah felt unable because he was so young. Isaiah was unclean. God showed them He was with them, that's where their victory was.

Then we looked at two men who had confidence in who they were, David and Paul. David knew God was with him. Some thought he was cocky or prideful. But no; facing that giant, David knew God would be with him. He trusted and believed that God would deliver Goliath into his hands. We can be confident as well that the Lord will be with us in every situation we face. He gives us that authority. God has called all of us to be giant slayers, God is there for us and in it with us.

For today, Pastor Mike started with two questions. Have you ever felt like a failure in life? Have you ever felt insecurity? Some people feel insecure because of their appearance, personality, or just their life in general. Some feel worthless; unattractive, don't fit in, can't do what others can. We need to learn that God is with us, in us, and that with Him, all things are possible. If any of that is you, we are going to get rid of insecurity and all of that. There is authority in the name of Jesus. We need to understand and believe that completely.

Today's message was titled, You Are Somebody Special To God. Some people never have victory in their lives because of low self-esteem. If you can't like yourself, you can't like or love those around you. The Bible says to love your neighbor as yourself. You have to know you’re a child of God with Christ inside you. You are special to God, every one of us are.

We need to get rid of insecurity. You may ask, “How do we do that?” What does the Bible say about that? It says you are crowned with glory and honor. Psalm 8:3-5 tells us, “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, 4 What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? 5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor.” The Psalmist is overwhelmed by the love of God. We are special in the eyes of God. We need to start believing we are something special in the eyes of God.

We sometimes ask the question, why did God create us. He created us to worship Him and to have fellowship with Him. Ever since Adam's sin, God wanted that relationship back. Yes, God had to curse man and curse the land because of that sin, but He had a plan to restore us. He's a relational God. The Bible clearly represents God as a Father figure. He's a loving God, and that includes discipline. God says you are more valuable than the moon and the stars. We are God's prized possessions.

This was important enough for Paul to reassure us in Hebrews 12:6-8, “because the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastens everyone He accepts as His son.” 7 Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as His children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8 If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all.”

We hear some say we're all just sinners. Yes, prior to Jesus' forgiveness and sanctification bought on the Cross, we were all sinners. Before Jesus, we were meant for death. He's a righteous God. When we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, no matter where you're at, you belong to Him.

There are a lot of false Christians who haven't received Jesus. Maybe someone prayed with them, prayed for them; that's good but that's not enough. You have to ask Jesus into your heart and surrender your life to Him. The gift of salvation transforms our life. It's the sanctification process. If there's no conversion, there is no new life in Christ. When Jesus saves you, you change from sinner to saint and from death to life! Come on!

We can choose to walk away from God, God won't take your salvation away. That's a choice we make. God still waits with open arms. He will receive us back if we repent and return. Jesus came because all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Because of the blood of Jesus, we are saved. We are sanctified and covered under the blood of Jesus.

Pastor Mike has a brother that sent him a reel; it was a rap song on sanctification. Pastor’s not a fan of rap, but God has been working in his little brother. He's not saved, but God is still chasing his little brother. God is always chasing after us. Keep praying and believing. We are covered with glory and honor, we are a royal family.

Pastor loves hymns. He mentioned one early in this series though, that he's not fond of. It's called At The Cross and has the line, “For such a worm as I". Pastor declared quite emphatically, “I'm not a worm”. He chooses to quote Isaiah 40:31 which says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Eagles eat worms…be an eagle not a worm.

We need to be serious about our salvation. We need to make sure we have surrendered completely. Jesus said in John 12:26, “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.” Honor is a word scribed time and again in scripture. If you serve the Lord, He will honor you. The definition of honor is this, “to regard someone with high respect and esteem”. That's what God thinks of you. You are His prized possession. We are all His prized possessions. We can't be prideful or high-handed about this, it's through Jesus. We are nothing without Jesus, we are everything with Him.

We are objects of God's affection. Isaiah 54:17 states, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.” The Lord tells Isaiah you are the object of my affection. It's not talking about discipline. It's about protection from the fiery darts of the enemy, against all that we face.

The last scripture we looked at was Romans 8:38-39, “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” That deserves a big AMEN! (And a Come On!) Be so grateful that nothing can separate us from the love of God that we have in Christ Jesus.

If you get knocked down, you get back up again. Sometimes you need help back up, that's one of the reasons your Brothers and Sisters in Christ are here for. You can't stay down; if you get knocked down, get back up. It's a spiritual battle, a tug-of-war. God pulls one way, the devil pulls the other. God wins. 1 John 4:4 gives us that assurance, “greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Be so persuaded how beautiful and loved completely you are by God. You are God's masterpiece, somebody special to God. Stop tearing yourself down and realize how loved and favored you are by God.

Thank you, Pastor Mike! Knowing how loved we are by the Lord is so important. When we grasp that, we can love ourselves because of that knowledge. Loving ourselves is vital. “Love your neighbors as yourself" is impossible to fulfill without loving the beautiful masterpiece God created. Jesus loved you enough to die for you. God loves you enough to raise Jesus back to life so that you could live with Him forever. That's a pretty strong declaration of your value, so believe it and receive it!

Get excited about how valued you are, how strong you are in Jesus, and living for Him! One thing that helps to raise that excitement for Him, is to surrender completely to Jesus each morning He gives you before doing anything else! Then ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and listen for His voice to guide you; both on your path and in the Word. Let the love of Jesus shine so bright in you, it is crystal clear and evident that you are a valued and beautiful Child of God!

Hugs and blessings for all,
Steve Densmore

Pride causes so many problems. Proverbs 11:2 tells us, “When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.” There should be no self-centered pride in our lives. We can’t eliminate it on our own, we need the Lord’s presence and strength.

There is one place for pride. Psalm 44:8 says, “In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever.” And in I Corinthians 1:31, “Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” I want no pride in my life, except for the pride I have in the Lord. He is worthy. ❤

Take Away Self Pride-a prayer

Lord I come with thankful praise
For all You’ve done and do,
Both now and for all my days
My heart belongs to You.

I know You’re working in me
Transforming me inside,
One thing I would like to see
Please take away self pride.

The proud of heart You detest
You favor the humble,
Even when I try my best
Sometimes I still stumble.

Lord teach me humility
My mind knows-that's a start,
Where it really needs to be
Is woven in my heart.

In my life, every good thing
With words or deeds I do,
All the honor, Lord I bring
It all belongs to You.

With selfless love for others
Jesus, You showed the way,
For my Sisters and Brothers
Help me show it each day.

Let there be just one boast stored
Used often is my goal,
I will boast of Christ my Lord
The Savior of my soul.

Amen

Knowing who we are in Christ
Is where we need to be,
By the world don’t be enticed
In Christ there’s victory!

Today was a beautiful day at our Calvary AOG. To share fellowship with our Brothers and Sisters is a wonderful thing. To join them in praise to our Lord is a joyful thing. To share communion together is a blessed thing. The Worship Team led us in Praise today that was both reflective and beautiful. They led us in I Stand In Awe; I've been singing that a lot lately, and I am grateful that we sang it together. They are so gifted and always fill my heart with love and gratitude for our Lord. Communion is so special. It truly is a blessing and an honor to share it together with the Body of Christ.

Today was part four in the Pastor’s series titled Who Am I?. Pastor Mike said as we move forward in the message he wanted to recap briefly. He said he hopes we're being impacted, hoping we're feeling it. The devil doesn't want you to know your potential! Today is a continuation of last week’s Knowing Who You Are In Christ titled, Knowing Who You Are – Part 2. He's breaking it up because there is so much to unpack and he doesn't want to rush through it. We started with Who Am I?, and not being alone.

We looked at Moses, Jeremiah, and Isaiah. To all of their reasons for holding back, the answer was the same-God says I'm with you and that's enough. Moses protested that he stutters, lots of excuses. It wasn't because he didn't want to be impactful for God, he felt inadequate. “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

We talked about David. We captured the heart of David and a great scripture of conquering fear-David's battle with Goliath. It’s an example for us of slaying the giants in our life. David showed up doing what his father asked, delivering lunch to his brothers. David ended up walking out to face Goliath, the giant champion of the Philistines. David was way smaller. Pastor called Sister Patrice up to the front to stand next to him as a little visual. Pastor used Patrice as an example; not just because of her smaller physical stature, but because she is fierce. She is fearless because of Jesus in her. Not just her stature, but her heart.

Imagine what you could do if you slayed those giants in your life. We all face them. God hasn't called us to slay them alone, He calls us to slay them with Him. David said I come in the name of the Lord God of Israel and He will hand you over to me. What is your giant? What is your mindset? I challenge you to change your mindset. Not how or will I, but I will by the power of the Holy Spirit in me. We’ve been in the Old Testament.

Now we are going into the New Testament to look at Apostle Paul. Pastor loves the confidence of Paul. He exhibited a no-fear attitude. Pastor Mike believes Paul's encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus humbled him. He saw who Christ was. It wasn't immediate, he had to walk it out-it took time. (Paul spent three years in Arabia before traveling to Jerusalem-Galatians 1:17-18) Situation after situation, he put it into practice. We have to do that too. We need to put it into action as we learn who we are in Christ. We need to walk in that boldness. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” There's no room for fear in the mind of the believer. Declare 2 Timothy 1:7 over your life all the time. We need to know who God is in our lives.

Paul tells Timothy of the faith he has. 2 Timothy 1:8:10 tells us, ““Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,”.

Paul knew he would be persecuted. He didn’t fear it because he knew who he served and walked in that boldness. God desires to fight our battles. He is beside us, walking with us. We weren't created to walk alone or fight alone. We were created to walk with Him. Take encouragement from James 1:8 “knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” Does it mean we laugh in the face of our giants? No. We trust God and stand in boldness before those giants.

Continuing on with 2 Timothy 1:11-14 we see, “to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12 For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. 13 Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.” That's preaching, right there. Verse 12 said, “He is able". Look at that full verse again, “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” “I have believed and am persuaded". Are we persuaded, Church? Are we believing?

Look at the confidence of Paul. 2 Corinthians 4:8-12 says, “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death is working in us, but life in you.” Paul admits to everyone that he goes through stuff like us; the trials and tribulations. We need to realize that all that comes against us won't prevail. God loves us. With Jesus in us, they won't overcome us. The enemy will come, the flaming arrows will fly. But they cannot pe*****te when God is in us. If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)

Paul says in 2 Corinthians 4:5-7, “For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” Let's say that last part again, “that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” Paul says confidence doesn't come from himself, it comes from God.

That's the difference between pride and confidence. Pride says, “Look what I did". Confidence says, “God prevailed through me". Paul knew who he was with God. Nothing can overpower God almighty. Paul lived out what he taught Timothy. He was not afraid of anything because he believed in the God he served. When on a ship that was battered by storm and they had thrown everything overboard to no avail, Paul said in Acts 27:22, “And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.” God will get us through to the other side. Amid the storm-no fear in it. Trust in the One who dwells in us.

Paul declared in Romans 8:31-32, “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” You know what He's saying here? God has my back. Pastor says that to you, God has your back. Why? The Lord is concerned about you. God is with us through the storms because He loves us and cares about us.

Paul continued in Romans 8:35-39, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God has placed eternity in the hearts of men and women, and we are called with a purpose. Paul knew who he was in Christ Jesus. God will help you know who you are in Christ Jesus. He will see you through. We need to understand that God is for us, and He is able. We have assurance of that in Luke 1:37, “For with God, nothing shall be impossible.”

Thank you, Pastor Mike! Paul is a great example for us. Some people learn who they are in Christ quickly, and God’s purpose for their lives is clearly known. It took Paul three years to get where he needed to be, but look at how he lived God's purpose so mightily! Whether it takes us a week or five years, never stop striving to gain that knowledge of who you are in Christ and His purpose for you. We all are unique and have a specific purpose (or purposes) that God has chosen for our lives. Seek it with all you heart, leaning on the Holy Spirit to help you. Don't sit idly by while you seek! Serve your church family, serve your community, pray without ceasing!

The best way to seek and strive is on your knees surrendering completely to Jesus each morning He gives you! Write a lot or a little of the Word in your heart each day-the Holy Spirit knows what you need to see. Let the love of Jesus flow to all who cross your path, there's power in that for sure!

Hugs and blessings for all,
Steve Densmore

Psalm 7:17 says, “I will give thanks to the Lord because of His righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.” God is worthy of all the praise we can give. His endless love, mercy, and grace that He gives us in Christ Jesus is a gift that I receive with a humble and grateful heart. ❤

Thankful Praise-a prayer

Lord I come in thankful praise
With all glory to You,
For in all Your deeds and ways
You are faithful and true.

I don’t come to ask or plead
I come with thanks in part,
That You meet my every need
I'm here with grateful heart.

Even now when trials are tough
I praise You for those too,
Your strength and love are enough
You always pull me through.

Thankful for failures and slips
You forgive every day,
That's why praise from heart and lips
Is in me Lord to stay.

Your Spirit's a wondrous gift
I praise You that He's heard,
He's there with me as I sift
For treasures in Your Word.

I thank You that You hear me
That You heed every call,
In my heart You'll always be
I praise that most of all.

Amen
