Well done, good and faithful servant. We are saddened by the news of Caleb Comfort Dog passing. He served his community and church/school so proudly. We pray for Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, his handlers and ministry partners, and the Valparaiso, Indiana community as they mourn the loss of Caleb. ❤️

Rest peacefully, Caleb. 🐾Believe

Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

With praise and thanksgiving to God for eight years of faithful service to our congregation and community, Immanuel Lutheran Church and School shares the heartbreaking news that Caleb Comfort Dog has passed.

Our hearts are broken. But even in our grief, we give thanks for the incredible gift Caleb was to so many.

For eight years, Caleb served as a bridge for compassionate ministry, bringing comfort, joy, and the hope that can only be found through Jesus Christ. He had an extraordinary gift for simply being present. His gentle heart, huge paws, and unmistakable personality brought smiles to countless faces and opened doors to conversations that might never have happened without him.

Caleb faithfully served our community, visiting hospitals, hospice, nursing homes, schools, the Boys & Girls Club, juvenile detention, and so many other places. He was also part of the LCC Kare 9 Military Ministry, where he had the special opportunity to connect with veterans, service members, and their families alongside his veteran handler.

Caleb and his ministry team also responded to communities experiencing tragedy and crisis, serving alongside other Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dogs in places such as Highland Park, Oxford, Waukesha, Lansing, Uvalde, Lewiston, Louisville, and others. One of Caleb’s most remarkable opportunities was helping children with his presence while they testified on the witness stand in LaPorte County, Indiana.

And then there were the everyday moments that made Caleb so special. Chasing tennis balls. Greeting people. Sitting quietly beside someone who needed a friend. Receiving endless love from his handlers and ministry team. Being, quite simply, Caleb.

Caleb had a good run. Actually, he had a few. He was everyone’s best hello, and now he has become one of our hardest goodbyes.

We rejoice that Caleb touched so many lives and brought comfort, joy, and the love of Jesus to everyone he met. He served others simply by being his adorable, handsome, sweet, and spunky self. Through Caleb, so many people experienced a moment of comfort, a reason to smile, and an opportunity to know the love of Christ.

We will gather at a later date for a Celebration of Service, where our congregation and community will have the opportunity to remember Caleb, share stories, and give thanks for his eight years of faithful ministry.

Until then, we grieve with hope. We give thanks for the life God gave Caleb and for the countless ways He used Caleb to touch the lives of others. Our comfort is not found in Caleb alone, but in Jesus, the One to whom Caleb always pointed us.
Well done, Caleb. You were loved. You were cherished. You made a difference. And you will never be forgotten.

I think I may have found some new best friends at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin! These friends are sometimes referred to as ‘heroes’. My handler said that they are actually called doctors and nurses! They help people everyday! They see so many patients in a day and rarely get a break! So when they saw me walk in, they were beaming with excitement to take a few minutes to reset and pet me!

My community is mourning the loss of Waukesha County Executive, Paul Farrow. Paul lived his life with the interests of others at his forefront. Paul served on the Richmond School Board, was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly, then the Wisconsin State Senate, and finally in 2015, he was elected Waukesha County Executive. He served proudly until his passing. Paul was quick to smile, eager to help, and beamed with energy.
Paul not only lived out an amazing life in the public eye, but he was always ready to show up for his friends and family. He lived out his life as a faithful steward of Christ.
In late 2024, Paul was diagnosed with cancer. He fought hard and even made public appearances weeks before he passed away.
Paul was called home to be with Christ Jesus on July 7, 2026. Our community, church family, and state of Wisconsin are mourning his loss. We invite you to pray for the Farrow family, Waukesha County, and the many people impacted by his passing.

“and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.”

It’s still summer, so that means more Vacation Bible School! Some LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs and I got to spend time with VBS campers at Pentecost Lutheran Church! I can’t tell who was wearing the bigger smile; me, my handler, or the campers! Regardless, I had a blast spending this beautiful summer day learning all about the amazing things the Lord has done!

The LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs were asked to attend the funeral of a young high school boy, Colin. Colin was described as kind, sincere, and genuine, always willing to be there for others in times of need. He also had a great love for dogs. Last week, his life was tragically lost in a car accident.
Tragedies like this cause immense heartbreak, pain, and grief. We also know that it is extremely difficult to navigate life after loss without faith, community, and prayer. We ask you to pray for Colin’s family and friends, Barrington High School, and others who knew him. We pray for comfort and peace.

Earlier this week, the state of Wisconsin was hit hard by tornadoes. The communities of Menasha, WI and Appleton, WI were damaged and people are facing devastating loss. The National Weather Service announced that those communities were hit with an EF-3 tornado, causing major building damages, large debris, and thousands to be without power. Please join me as we pray for those impacted.

Heavenly Father, we pray for those affected by the damaging storms Monday. Please shine your light on them as they rebuild life and begin navigating these troubles. Thank you for protecting the people. We ask for strength and stamina to those who will be helping to rebuild the cities and clean up from the storm. In Your name we pray. Amen.

We are so grateful to also have received news that our LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs who live in that area of Wisconsin are safe and so are their teams.
