Angels in Action
As a child, I thought angels were nothing more than fairy tale characters—no different from Superman or Cinderella. But as I grew in my faith, I discovered a powerful truth: angels are real, mighty beings created by God to fulfill His divine will (2 Peter 2:11). These heavenly angels are not distant or detached; they are actively involved in our lives as messengers and protectors.
Messengers in God's Presence: Angels dwell in the presence of God, worshiping Him continuously. Isaiah 6:3 paints a stunning picture of seraphim declaring, "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." These divine beings witness God's majesty firsthand, and when we pray, they play a role in delivering our petitions before the throne of grace. In Daniel 9:20-23, the angel Gabriel swiftly arrived with a response to Daniel’s prayers—revealing the unseen realm at work around us.
Protectors and Warriors: Scripture promises divine protection through the ministry of angels. Psalm 91:11-12 assures us, "For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." Whether fighting unseen battles (Daniel 10:12-14) or strengthening weary hearts (Hebrews 1:14), angels operate under God's command, moving on behalf of His people. Even Jesus, in His moment of anguish at Gethsemane, was strengthened by an angel (Luke 22:43).
Heavenly Assistance for God's Children: As heirs of salvation, we have access to angelic intervention. Elisha comforted his fearful servant, declaring, "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them" (2 Kings 6:16). Through Christ, heaven's armies stand ready to aid us in times of need.
Prayer: Father, thank You for surrounding us with Your heavenly messengers. Let us walk confidently, knowing we are never alone. May Your angels guard and guide us in all our ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Blessings,
David & Shirley McLauren
