This past weekend, the feast of the Madonna was held in the town of Anzano. Here are some words written by the town administrator in her honor. We will be honoring our lady on June 7th in the North End, Boston.

THE TRADITION CONTINUES AND OUR LADY SUSTAINS US

I would like to express, on behalf of the Municipal Administration and the whole community of Anzano di Puglia, my most sincere and deepest gratitude to the Committee of the Virgin of Anzano for the extraordinary success of the celebrations dedicated to our beloved Virgin Mary.

It was an intense day of faith, tradition, emotion and belonging, which once again proved how strong the bond that unites our people with Madonna di Anzano is.
Since the early hours of the morning we have experienced moments of great spirituality with the hospitality of pilgrims from Scampitella, Vallesaccarda, Trevico and Zungoli, accompanying with devotion our traditional transport
Madonna on the distinctive wooden chariot pulled by oxen, authentic symbol of our history and roots.

An event of this magnitude doesn’t happen by chance. Behind every moment lived there is the silent, tireless and precious work of the Festival Committee, made up of people who with sacrifice, passion and love for their community and for the Virgin Mary devote their time and energy to make sure that everything works out in the best way possible. All of us deserve their gratitude.

A heartfelt thank you to our parish priest, Don Michele De Vincentis, spiritual guide of our Marian Sanctuary, who with dedication and faith accompanies this important religious walk every year.

A heartfelt thank you to the many Anzanians from every part of Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, America and Australia.
The Feast of Our Lady of Anzano represents something beyond just a religious celebration: it is the moment when many of our emigrants return to their native land, called back by a deep, affectionate and special connection with the Virgin.
It is the reminder of origins, of family, of memory and of faith that spans generations and continents.

Congratulations to the committee for the evening show that animated our town and for the suggestive concluding fireworks show that lit up the Anzano sky, ending with dignity an unforgettable day.

This festival continues to represent the heartbeat of our community, cherishing the traditions, faith and identity that make our country unique.

Thank you to all those who contributed, participated and lived with emotion this marvelous feast dedicated to our Madonna di Anzano.
