We made it to day 5 of the Hajj! The final day of this holy Islamic pilgrimage.

But there is one more significant stop that many Muslim pilgrims will make before heading home: the city of Medina.

Did you know that Medina is considered the second holiest city in Islam, after Mecca?

Why is this city so significant? Largely because it is home to:
• The prophet Muhammad's gravesite
• The Islamic University of Madinah
• Three prominent mosques

As Muslim pilgrims visit this city, visit Muhammad’s grave, and reflect on the past week, may their eyes be opened to the emptiness of it all.

This is the last day of prayer. Let’s pray prayers that reflect the size of our God.

May Muslim pilgrims not go home from the Hajj until they have encountered the One they truly seek: Jesus Christ.

Medina was originally a desert oasis located on a flat mountain plateau. It was surrounded by low mountains and stony plains. The city’s population is now over two million, with some 750,000 non-Saudi residents from Arab and Asian nations.

Right now, millions of Muslims are celebrating Eid al-Adha, the “Festival of Sacrifice.” Eid al-Adha marks the end of th...

Right now, millions of Muslims are celebrating Eid al-Adha, the “Festival of Sacrifice.”

Eid al-Adha marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

Muslims both on the Hajj and around the world celebrate Eid al-Adha with animal sacrifice, donations to the poor, and visiting loved ones.

The feast in Islam celebrates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son to Allah, and the ram Allah provided in the boy’s place.

But through Scripture, we know the ram provided by God is a foreshadow of Jesus Christ, the PERFECT SACRIFICE for our sins!

Muslims know part of the story.

But they don’t know the most important part: only through the blood of Jesus are we redeemed!

As Hajj 2022 comes to a close, let’s pray for Muslims seeking Truth—that they would know Jesus Christ as their SAVIOR.

Eid al-Adha literally means “Festival of Sacrifice.” It is also called Eid al-Kabeer – “The Large Feast.” It marks the culmination of the religious rituals on the hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. The four-day holiday begins on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu’l-Hijja, the tw...

Yesterday, we prayed for Saudi Arabia, the epicenter of Islam.

Though his 36-year-old son is already running the day-to-day affairs of the nation, the whole Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is still under one man’s authority: King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Today, we focus our prayers on this highly significant person. Imagine the impact on Muslims on pilgrimage if King Salman gave his life to Jesus!

At 86 years old, King Salman’s health has been failing. He has spent a lifetime dedicated to the fundamentalist form of Islam behind much of the extremism we see today.

But the Bible is clear. NOTHING King Salman has done is beyond the immediate and complete forgiveness available through the blood of Jesus. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).

And so we plead that King Salman would be found “in Christ Jesus” before it’s too late – for the sake of God’s fame and glory, for the sake of the king and his family, and for the sake of the millions of Muslims traveling through Saudi Arabia this year for Hajj!

Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud became king of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in January 2015, at the age of 79. He is the absolute monarch of Saudi Arabia, head of the house of Saud, and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Saudi Arabia has been called the heartland of Islam.

The Prophet Muhammad was born here. Islam’s holiest city, Mecca, is here. And it is towards this city that Muslims all over the world turn to pray five times daily.

This nation has a significant impact on the entire Muslim world.

During Hajj, it has at times been difficult to secure the safety of the enormous influx of people. Stampedes have led to hundreds of deaths and injuries. Muslims look to Saudi Arabia to provide a place of safety as they seek forgiveness and spiritual blessing.

But the only solid foundation for Muslims to place their trust is in Jesus Christ. What if Saudi Arabians turned to Jesus as the source of security, forgiveness and blessing?

A movement of God in this influential nation could change millions of hearts across the Muslim world. Let’s pray for THAT.

Known for its vast desert landscapes, Saudi Arabia also boasts beautiful coastlines along the Red Sea and Persian Gulf. This arid land is the birthplace of one of the fastest growing - and second largest - religions in the world: Islam.

Tonight is the start of Hajj – the pilgrimage of Muslims from all over the world to Mecca, in western Saudi Arabia. It begins two months and ten days after Ramadan ends each year.

Today also marks the official start of our five-day prayer journey for Muslim pilgrims to encounter and know Jesus Christ as Savior!

What is the Hajj?
• Islam requires that every Muslim go on a pilgrimage to Mecca (the birthplace of Islam) at least once in their lifetime. Pilgrims perform sacred rituals and follow the steps of Muhammad.

Why do Muslims do this?
• It is required of them.
• To seek forgiveness of sins and a chance at eternal life.
• To have a spiritual encounter and grow closer to Allah.

How can I pray for Muslims during this time?
• Pray that Jesus would REVEAL Himself to seeking pilgrims. (There are countless stories of Muslims on Hajj having dreams and visions of Jesus and embracing the Gospel!)
• Pray that Muslims would be open to hear the truth about Jesus’ LOVE and forgiveness available to them even as they make their pilgrimage.

Millions of Muslims are seeking forgiveness and cleansing today through sacred rituals and acts that cannot purify or rid any of them of sin. But knowing Jesus CAN!

Your prayers for Muslim during this crucial time could change their eternity!

There is a shrine in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, known as the Ka’aba. Muslims believe it was originally built by Adam, destroyed in Noah’s time, and rebuilt by Abraham and his son Ishmael. They believe that over time the Arabs of the region became idolaters, and this sacred site was co-opted by pagans.

One of the most powerful ways to strategically pray for Muslims is to unite our prayers during significant moments on the calendar.
And one of the most spiritually significant events in the Muslim world is about to begin: the Hajj.
Participating in Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam.
Islam’s five pillars are:
· Shahada (Faith)
· Salat (Prayer)
· Zakat (Charity)
· Sawm (Fasting)
· Hajj (Pilgrimage)
These are religious mandates. To be a Muslim, you must do each of these five things, with few exceptions.
It's a life of striving and seeking and earning…and falling short. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
Over the next five days, we will be praying for topics that relate with the Hajj. If God radically moves in any one of these areas, Muslims will be able to find the forgiveness and closeness with God that performing these pillars cannot offer.
“We know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ” (Galatians 2:16).

Over a billion people earnestly strive for Allah’s mercy and favor through the Five Pillars of Islam. Yet fear and uncertainty remain. Will it ever be enough to earn salvation?
