Pantry 279

Pantry 279 Girl Scout Troop 69-279 out of Ellettsville, IN has built a permanent food pantry for those in need in our community, and surrounding areas.

What was meant to be a small pantry, grew uncommonly fast and currently feeds around 11000+ individuals a month. Pantry 279, the Pantry with TLC was conceived, built, stocked, and ran by the cadet Girl Scouts of Troop 69-279. They, with the help of the Leader, Parents, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellettsville Indiana have built a permanent food pantry for those in need in our community and sur

rounding areas. Hours of Operation are currently Mon, Tues, Wed 3-6 and Sat 1-3. With Additional hours for Senior Citizens and Disabled on Tues 1:30 - 4 and a clothing pantry on Thurs 11-4 ( No food at Clothing pantry ) Hours are subject to change due to weather and emergencies, we will always post this on our page. It is time to let you all in on something we've been keeping quiet. BUT First!! Please wish Traci a Happy Birthday!!!
As we all know, the lines at the pantry have been getting longer, and food has been a challenge. What saddens me most is seeing old friends returning to the pantry years after having dug themselves out of the financial hole, and now they are back needing a little help. Also, some donors are now in our lines. Food costs are crazy high! So, on Tuesday, Andrew and I will leave and go to Washington DC to meet with and talk to our Representatives in a meeting that has been scheduled. We are being sent by a wonderful organization, Bread For The World. They are having a hunger summit in DC this week and are sending us to represent our people here in Central and Southern IN We hope to also make National Connections at this summit that will benefit us all. Hunger is not an Indiana problem, it's nation wide, and Bread For The World will have many representatives from other states there as well. What can YOU do to help? Glad you asked! On June 10 Bread is requesting that everyone email in THEIR personal story to Congress. We have a 15 min meeting, so only a time for a couple of stories, but you all have your story, and they are all important! Please help back us by emailing congress on June 10 with why stopping hunger is important to you and encourage them to pass legislation that modernizes WIC and stops all cuts to food and food programs. Wish us luck, and keep us in your thoughts, as we go let them know food is a right, not a privilege.
