What do we want our church/congregation to look like in 5 years? Are we willing to change; in what ways? What do we want to accomplish? How will we get there? WORSHIP:

· How can we use our worship services

to attract and keep new and continuing members

· What changes, if any, do we want to make in our services

BUILDING and PROPERTY:

· Remodeling projects

· Maintenance projects

· Planning for growth; potential need to expand facilities

· Funding

EDUCATION:

· What kinds of educational opportunities can we create/use to enhance scriptural instruction and faith lives of our congregants.

· How can we devise and use educational programs to enhance ministry and provide community outreach

YOUTH/FAMILY:

· How can we involve children and youth more in the life of the church

· What comes after “graduation” from confirmation; transitioning from childhood to adulthood in the church

· How can we make our church more family inviting

· How can we foster more parent involvement in the development of their children’s faith lives

EVANGELISM:

· How do we communicate our mission to the community

· How do we attract and keep new members of all ages

· How do we assure that our “service teams” are successful

· How do we become a welcoming home for anyone/everyone (“all are welcome”)

STEWARDSHIP:

· How can we increase giving to sustain ministry and mission at Vermont

· How can we devise useful time/interests/talents surveys and then make optimum use of the information we get from them

· How can we integrate our faith with everyday life

MISSION:

· What ministries are already in place

· How do people find out about current and new projects so that they can get personally involved

· How can people in the congregation get new projects rolling

· How do we encourage individuals to create new ministries

· How do we find out about needs, locally and globally, that could be addressed with mission projects

· How can we inspire members to become more involved in God’s work in the world (Habitat for Humanity, Adopt a Highway, Food Pantry, etc…)

ENDOWMENT:

· How do we increase awareness and giving

🌊💧 Help Bring the Black Earth Creek Watershed to Life!

The Black Earth Creek Watershed Association (BECWA) is working to create a table-sized 3-D model of the Black Earth Creek watershed that will be used for education, outreach, and community engagement throughout the watershed.

This interactive model will help students, residents, and visitors better understand how water moves through the landscape, how our actions affect water quality, and why protecting streams, wetlands, and natural areas matters for the health of our communities. 🌿🐟

Would you like to support this project? Donations may be made through Vermont Lutheran Church (checks payable to Vermont Church with BECWA in the memo), or you can donate at BECWA.org.

Together, we can help educate future generations and support the health of the Black Earth Creek watershed for years to come. 💚

🪺💙 Bluebird season is well underway at the Legacy Prairie & Woodlands, and signs of new life are appearing all across the trails!

Right now, about one-third of our bluebird boxes are active — a wonderful reminder of how healthy prairie and woodland habitats can support wildlife when native spaces are cared for and restored. 🌾🌳

So far this season:
• 13 young bluebirds have successfully fledged
• 15 babies are currently in nests
• 5 eggs are still being incubated

Eastern Bluebirds often raise two or even three broods each summer, so there is a good chance we’ll continue seeing even more activity in the weeks ahead. Bluebirds prefer open grassy areas with scattered trees, making prairie edges and restored habitats especially important for their survival. They also help naturally control insects by feeding on beetles, caterpillars, grasshoppers, and other bugs. 🐛🐞

If you walk the trails this summer, you may spot bluebirds perched on fence posts, gliding low across the prairie, or carrying insects back to their nesting boxes. Please remember to observe from a distance so these busy parents can continue caring for their young safely. 💙

There’s always something new to discover in the prairie and woodlands.

Thank you to the American Legion Post 313 for leading a meaningful Memorial Day Veterans Remembrance service at Vermont Lutheran Church.

As we gathered together in gratitude and reflection, we remembered and honored the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice, courage, and commitment continue to inspire us and remind us of the true meaning of Memorial Day.

We are grateful to all who participated and helped make this special time of remembrance possible. ❤️🤍💙

🌿 ✨ Fear and uncertainty did not stop Jesus from bringing peace to his disciples—and they do not stop him from coming to us today either.

In John 20:21, Jesus says:

“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”

Christ meets us where we are, speaks peace into our lives, and sends us out to share hope, kindness, and compassion in the world around us. 💛

Where can you bring a little peace to someone today?

💛 UNITED IN LOVE 💛

“Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one.” -John 17:11b

Jesus prayed for unity—not just agreement, but a love that holds people together through kindness, patience, compassion, and care. In a world that often feels divided and disconnected, even small actions can help build community and reflect God’s love. 🌎✨

This week, try a few different ways to put that prayer into action:
🥖 Share something homemade or garden-grown with someone
🚶 Slow down enough to greet people you normally pass by
🧹 Quietly help with a chore or task nobody wants to do
🪑 Sit with someone who might otherwise be alone
🌼 Leave a place a little better than you found it
📚 Learn something about another person’s experiences or perspective
🌳 Take a walk without headphones and notice the people and creation around you
💵 Support a small local effort, pantry, or community project
Unity is built little by little—through presence, generosity, humility, and care. Even ordinary actions can help reflect God’s love in the world. 💛

🎓✨ Filled With Promise ✨🕊️

This Sunday, we gather in worship during the days between Ascension and Pentecost as we wait with hope for the Spirit to renew and guide the church. In the gospel, Jesus prays for unity in a divided world, reminding us that we are made one through God’s love and grace. ❤️

We will also celebrate and bless this year’s graduates as they prepare for new journeys and opportunities ahead. Together, we’ll gather around the Lord’s Table in Holy Communion and be sent out to live with hope, compassion, and purpose.

All are welcome! 🌿
