Luke 17:11–19
On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed.

Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan.

Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?”

And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”

Y’all, Jesus cleansed ten lepers… but only one returned!!!!! And the one who came back was a Samaritan… the foreigner… the one nobody expected!

All ten cried out for mercy.
All ten obeyed His instruction.
All ten were cleansed as they went. But only one turned back.
Only one praised God with a loud voice. Only one fell at the feet of Jesus and gave Him thanks. And only one heard Jesus say that his faith had made him well!

The phrase translated made you well comes from the Greek word SoZo. Meaning saved, healed, delivered, MADE HOLE!

All ten were cleansed… but the grateful one returned to the feet of Jesus and received MORE!
He didn’t just recognize what had happened to his body. He recognized WHO had done it! The other nine received the blessing and kept walking. The one received the blessing and returned to the Blesser. And Jesus noticed who came back… and who did not.👀 Gratitude brought him back to the feet of Jesus!

Lord, never let me become so focused on what You have done for me that I forget to return and give You praise. I do not want to receive Your help and simply keep walking. Thank You for cleansing me, saving me, healing me, and making me whole!

After waking up early this morning, the first time I noticed the clock (without the alarm) was 5:25. I noted it to check for verses later.
Then, while I was praying, the room was dark, but streaks of light were finding places to get through. The pattern caught my attention, so of course I searched what it resembled, and it looked like the Hebrew letter Aleph, which is the first Hebrew letter and carries the numerical value one. It’s commonly connected with strength, authority, leadership, and the first or chief.
Laying in a dark room with THAT symbol of light breaking through made me think of John 1:5 that says The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it!!!
So then I started looking at the 5:25 verses…and goodness!

2 Samuel 5:25
So David did what the LORD commanded, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.

There it was again…Do whatever He tells you!

Galatians 5:25
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

John 5:25
And I assure you that the time is coming, indeed it’s here now, when the dead will hear my voice, the voice of the Son of God. And those who listen will live.

1 Thessalonians 5:25
Dear brothers and sisters, pray for us.

Then this one also connected directly with the light breaking through the darkness…

1 Timothy 5:25
In the same way, the good deeds of some people are obvious. And the good deeds done in secret will someday come to light.

This was so encouraging to me, especially for what I was praying about. God always gets his point across, and I’m so thankful!

Maybe you need this encouragement today too…
Keep praying. Keep listening for His voice. Follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of your life. When God gives you direction, do what He tells you.

Don’t get discouraged when your obedience feels confusing to you. God sees every prayer, every sacrifice, and every act of faithfulness. What has been done quietly has not escaped His attention.

It may appear dark…but the light is still getting through! 🙌🙌🙌

Hebrews 10:35–37
35 - So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!

36 - Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

37 - For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay.

💗The instruction is clear💗

Do not throw away your confidence in the Lord.

REMEMBER…

Patiently endure.

Continue doing God’s will.

THEN you will receive what He promised.

The waiting season is not permission to quit- even if it’s hard!!! It’s where confident trust becomes patient endurance. Keep going… He has not forgotten His promise!

And then over and over in Revelation, we see that God’s promises belong to those who KEEP trusting, KEEP obeying, and overcome through Christ.

Revelation 21:7
He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.

The promise is not given to the person who never faced a battle. It’s given to the one who refused to surrender in the battle.🤺

Philippians 3

Paul had every reason to put confidence in his background, his knowledge, his accomplishments, and his religious “resume” but he said none of it compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus.

Whew!! it is so easy to measure ourselves by what we have done, what we have been through, what people think of us, or even what we have accomplished for the Lord. But Paul reminds us that our confidence cannot be in our flesh. It cannot be in our ability to get it all right.

My righteousness is found in Jesus. My identity is found in Jesus. My hope is found in Jesus.

And then Paul says, “That I may know Him…” Not just know about Him. Not just work for Him. Not just sing about Him or preach about Him… but truly know Him: His resurrection power, His heart, His suffering, His life being formed in me.

I may not have arrived, but I am pressing on. I am not living in yesterday’s failures, pain, victories, or seasons. I am reaching forward to what God has placed before me.

One thing I do: I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Jesus is worth it all.💗

😂 Okay… I had a thought today as I was thinking about our monthly church Potluck.

What’s the difference between a buffet and a potluck… spiritually? 😂

A buffet says…
Come eat what somebody else prepared for you.

But a potluck says…
Come eat AND bring what YOU have to contribute.

And whew… that sounds a whole lot like the Body of Christ to me.

1 Corinthians 12:7
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

Church was never meant to be a place where a few people prepare everything while everybody else just consumes.

Feed me.
Teach me.
Encourage me.
Pray for me.
Minister to me.

Of course there are seasons when you need to come hungry and simply RECEIVE. We all need that.

But as we grow, there comes a point when we should start asking…
What did God put in ME to bring to the table?

1 Peter 4:10
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

THAT is potluck church. 😂
You bring your gift.
I’ll bring mine.

Somebody brings encouragement.
Somebody brings teaching.
Somebody brings prayer.
Somebody brings mercy.
Somebody brings wisdom.
Somebody brings helps.
Somebody brings a testimony.

And when everybody brings what God gave THEM… everybody gets fed. 🍽️

And listen… 😂
Don’t criticize somebody for bringing banana pudding just because YOU brought green beans. Their dish wasn’t supposed to look like yours.

Romans 12:6
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith.

Maybe we need to stop asking only… What am I getting from church?
And start asking… What did GOD put in me to bring to the table?

Because maybe church was never supposed to be a buffet… Maybe it was always supposed to be a POTLUCK. 🙌

Matthew 7:6
Do not waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Do not throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.
