In the book Mere Christianity C. S. Lewis wrote, “There is one vice of which no man in the world is free, which everyone in the world loathes when he sees it in someone else, and of which hardly any people, except Christians, ever imagine that they are guilty themselves . . . The vice I am talking about is Pride.” Isaac Watts set to music our sure defense against this ever-present temptation. “When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of glory died, my richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.” All this world has to offer and all I may attain is nothing in the light of what my Savior accomplished in my place at the cross.

Today was nice weather to go to the pumpkin patch! We got to see the animals, rode the pumpkin ride, and yes, got to pick out a pumpkin from the field. 🎃 If you missed out this year, please join us for next year.

10/12/2026:

When questioned about which is the greatest commandment, Jesus replied, “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love of your neighbor, who is made in the image of God, flows forth from love toward God. The great evidence that you love God and are walking in step with the Spirit is not some personal mystical experience, but how you relate in your relationships with other people. Do those relationships show forth love? It’s easy to talk about and sing about love as our culture does so often, but it is much harder to live this out in situations wherein it can be very difficult to demonstrate love for others. This is where we must rely on the Spirit of Christ. The first fruit of the Spirit is love. That is obvious from the Lord’s words. Let us walk in love toward God and one another.

“Whoever can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. If the God-given understanding of your mind does not resist a demand to believe what is impossible, then you will not resist a demand to do wrong to that God-given sense of justice in your heart.” Despite all the references to God, this quote by Voltaire is an attack upon the church and religion in general. The absurdities he has in mind are the Trinity, the resurrection, the judgment, etc. He had no idea of the absurdities that would be commonly stated in our day. Things like: men can become pregnant, boys can be girls, girls can be boys, murder of helpless children is a choice, etc. Flowing out of such absurdities are the atrocities of mutilation of children, murder of millions of unborn, and untold crippling mental and emotional issues. God is a God of truth. All lies are an attack upon the Person of God. Those who foist absurdities upon the people are anti-God. They are the enemies of God. God, save us from such and help us to counter such absurdities with the truth of Your Word.
