Jesus preached that the Kingdom of God had arrived but to people did not see a physical kingdom and they may have equated it to imagination. Today, many think that Heaven and Hell are simply constructs of someone’s imagination however the Word of God states that they are real places. Jesus shared two parables that dealt with the reality of the Kingdom of God: The Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds and the Parable of the Net. The wheat (saved) and the weeds (unsaved) live together until its time for harvest. The good fish (saved) and the bad fish (unsaved) exist in the water and the net until it is time to sort them. When you examine your life, are you wheat or weeds? Are you a good fish or a bad fish? Which lifestyle exemplifies your life? If you died today and stood before the Lord or if the Lord returned today, what side would you be parted to? The wheat or the weeds? The good fish or the bad fish? Let anyone who has ears listen and take to heart the reality of His Kingdom. (From Sunday Morning, September 13, 2026).

Humanity as a whole and even Christians oftentimes hold in high esteem people with great worldly characteristics and we often ignore or diminish those with humility, weakness and those who rely on faith. But the Christian life is not to be lived out in our own strength, in our own abilities/skills or in our own knowledge. We are called to live by faith. Faith is what we believe even though we can not see (Hebrews 11:1). It may seem strange to people, but that does not matter. As Christians, we are called to walk by faith. We like to be self-sufficient, don't we? When self-sufficiency spills over into our spiritual lives it can cause us some major problems. Instead of seeking first God's plans, God's strength, God's wisdom, God's knowledge and God's power, we totally rely on ourselves. We tend to turn to God only after we have exhausted our own abilities. We tend to turn to God only when we get in a bind and we are in over our heads. We need to turn this thinking and behavior around to where God is not the last option after we have exhausted our abilities, but where God is always first in our lives. We need to run to Him first! As Christians, we need to rely on God's power instead of our own (From Sunday Evening, September 6, 2026).

As an American, you could definitely say that Citizenship Has Its Privileges. We live in a country with many different freedoms, opportunities and luxuries that many places in the world do not have. As great as it is to be a citizen of these United States, it pales in comparison to our citizenship as Christians in God’s Kingdom. All believers are citizens of His kingdom and He has expectations for His citizens. How should we live then as citizens of His kingdom? (From Sunday Morning, September 6, 2026)
