“You are ignoring the one person you can do the most about.”

It's so easy to hear a message and immediately think about who else needs to hear it.

"I wish my spouse were here."
"My kids really need this."
"So-and-so needs to hear this."

But there's one person we have the most influence over:
ourselves.

When God's Word challenges us, our first response shouldn't be, “Who needs this?”

It should be:
“God, how do I need this?”

We can't control everyone else. We can't make someone else obey God.

But we can ask God to change us.

So the next time Scripture challenges you, look in the mirror first.

“I didn't have to learn that lesson the hard way.”

Sometimes we think we have to experience something for ourselves before we'll believe it's true.

But what if wisdom is meant to protect us from having to learn every lesson through pain?

Many of us are guilty of ignoring godly advice—and realizing later that the advice was true from the beginning.

We live in a culture that says, “Go find out for yourself.”

But God's wisdom says something different:

Listen. Learn. And obey.
