God’s special promise to help us grow.
Posted on November 18, 2021
Philippians 2:13 tells us that God is working in us, giving us both the desire and the power to do of His good pleasure. That is a wonderful promise. He does not leave us to do it ourselves. We work out our own salvation with fear and trembling….only because it is God himself who is giving us both the desire and the power to do what He desires us to do. And, this verse also tells us that He does not leave us hanging, giving us only the desire or only the power to do what He desires us to do. He knows that we have to have both. Having the desire only or the power only, would not be sufficient. He, having perfect wisdom as God, gives us everything we need-the desire and the power.

Marvelous thought to give us great encouragement!
Posted on September 5, 2021
God asks and invites us to come to Him. This is not a reluctant, sighing, “oh, ok. You can come into my presence.” He is literally asking us and inviting us to come into His presence, make our needs known, bask in His love, and get a picture of His power, His righteousness, His holiness, and His love and grace towards us. It is an “arms wide open invitation,” not a grudgingly given invitation. He wants us to come to Him…..whenever, wherever. Let us rejoice in this God we serve!

We cannot comprehend how much God thinks about us.

David tells us in Psalm 139 that the number of His thoughts towards us outnumbers the grains of sand. Have you ever considered the number of grains of sand there are on this earth alone. It is a number beyond my comprehension, and yet the number of times He thinks about me is far beyond that. No wonder David said to God “how precious to me are your thoughts.”

God invites us into relationship with Him.
Posted on May 21, 2021
Thought for the day….God most High, the creator of all things, does not just allow us to come to Him, He invites us to. He invites us to have a relationship with Him, to talk with Him about all things, and just to spend time with Him.

The relationship God desires with us.
Posted on April 28, 2021
One of the most well known passages in the bible is the Lord’s prayer. It starts out “our Father, who art in heaven.” When you think about it, that is one of the most beautiful invitations God could offer us. He is telling us to come to Him like a child would go to his or her own father. We read the story about Queen Esther in the old testament. What she states is that, during her time, one could be killed (even her as the Queen) simply for entering into the presence of the King without an invitation. What an opposite reaction we receive from God, the creator of all things. He invites us to come into His presence any and all times we desire to come. We don’t need a special invitation from Him to come to Him, to enter His presence. That thought should give us great joy, and great encouragement to talk with God about any and everything we desire. His invitation is never-ending.

His constant care.

Matthew 10:29-31 tells us that two sparrows are sold for a penny, but not one of them falls to the ground apart from His care. He then goes on to tell us that we are worth much more than many sparrows. So, if He is aware of each and every sparrow that falls to the ground, how much more will He be watching over us….every moment of every day! He is God and He is intimately involved in and watchful over every moment and every aspect of our lives. That is a truth that we can rejoice and rest in every moment of our day.

He is continuously involved in our lives.

We need to remember every morning (or whatever time you get up depending on your work schedule) that this is the day God has made for us, and because of that we can rejoice. He has purposed, planned, and designed every day of our lives for our good and His glory. That is something that should fill us with joy.

Let’s live a life that honors the gift God gave us, the price He was willing to pay for our salvation.
Posted on October 21, 2020
We’ve talked before about the price God was willing to pay for our salvation-the life of His own precious Son. We will never be able to pay Him back or thank Him enough for that gift, but we can honor the gift He gave us (the price He was willing to pay for our salvation and to have a relationship with us for all of eternity). I think we have all heard the thought that actions speak louder than words. And, it is true in this situation. If we say we are thankful for the gift God gave us, but don’t live a life that honors Him, it is just words. Only as the way we live our life matches our words of thankfulness will people be able to see the connection and meet this God who gave us so much.

The fourth Man
Posted on August 17, 2020
The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the book of Daniel is a wonderful example of our Father walking through every situation with us. “Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, weren’t there three men that were tied up and thrown into the fire? Look, I see four men walking around in the fire, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” (Daniel 3:24-25). I have not experienced the suffering that many, if not most of God’s children throughout the world have experienced, but the promise of these words is for all of God’s children. He is with us, and walking us through, every situation we face. We can count on God to be with us, and to lead us.

We are wholly and completely dependent upon God.
Posted on August 9, 2020
My brother said something a little bit ago, that is definitely worth repeating and worth thinking about. The thought has been there a long time, but he put it into concrete words. We are so dependent on God that, if He took his eyes off of us or stopped thinking about and caring for us even for a millisecond, we would be destroyed. We have no life apart from Him, and we are totally dependent upon God who holds all things together by His power.

Our works cannot save us.
Posted on July 31, 2020
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our only way to have a relationship with God our creator, and the only way to make it to heaven. We rely on His sacrifice on our behalf, His blood to cover our sins, and His resurrection so that we can stand justified before God. While our works cannot save us, we cannot keep on living our lives as if we can keep on sinning because the blood of Jesus Christ covers our sins. God our Father is gracious and merciful in providing the blood of His Son to cover our sins, but we must honor that sacrifice and the sacrifice Jesus Christ himself made for the forgiveness of our sins by how we live our lives day to day-everything we say and everything we do.

In the midst of struggle, God is on your side.
Posted on July 15, 2020
When we are going through difficult times, we have a God who is on our side….and one who is supporting us. The bible tells us that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us (Romans 8:27), and that Jesus himself always lives to intercede for us (Hebrews 7:25). So, lift up your head, take heart….God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are both interceding on our behalf.

We need all that God is.
Posted on May 25, 2020
We need everything that God is. Because of His mercy, we are not consumed. But we also need a God powerful enough to say that He knows the end from the beginning, from ancient times what is still to come. Idols/gods are made and have to be carried. They have eyes, but cannot see. They have ears, but cannot hear. They have mouths, but cannot speak. Our God states His purpose will stand, and He will do all that He pleases. He has no need of our sacrifices, for the cattle on a thousand hills is His, and every animal of the forest is His. We need His love, His mercy, His power, His righteousness, His holiness, His grace. We are absolutely dependent upon all that He is, and all the He promises He will do for us His children. We have no life apart from Him, as He is our creator, and He promises to perfectly take care of us.

Happy Easter! He is Risen!!
Posted on April 12, 2020
Today is Easter Sunday….the day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is the day that gives us the greatest evidence of the love our Father has for all of us. For, without this day-the resurrection of Jesus Christ His Son after His death for our sins-we could have no relationship with our Father and Creator. So, we rejoice in this day of celebration, Easter Sunday-the day God our Father demonstrated the extent of His love by the sacrifice and resurrection of His Son in order to purchase our salvation and our relationship with Him.

To whom much is given, much is required.
Posted on April 5, 2020
We have been given a tremendous amount from God-an immeasurable love and an extraordinary demonstration of that love. We now have a responsibility to give to others a little of what we have been given. Think about your life. Are you demonstrating a little of that love to others. That is what God says is required of us.

Never doubt that God loves you!
Posted on February 16, 2020
The greatest evidence of God’s love for us is the simple but amazing fact that He created us at all. Being God, he knew how we would turn from him, and that it would cost the life of his precious Son in order to redeem us back to Himself to continue the relationship He so desired. If you ever have any doubt that God loves you, think about the price He was willing to pay for a relationship with you…His creation.

We’ve all heard the statements before. He looks just like his dad. She looks just like her mother. Do the people around us get a glimpse of God our Father-His love, His mercy and grace, His goodness-by the way we live our lives? While we cannot be an exact representation of God, our lives-what we say and how we act-need to give people around us a glimpse of who God is.

The daily supply of mercy from God our Father.
Posted on January 1, 2020
I believe that, like me, many of you enjoy the beginning of a new year. It is a time of new beginnings and starting with a clean slate. We can forget what is in the past, and start a new year fresh. I don’t know for sure, but it may be something that God has put inside all of us….the joy and freedom to start all over again. One of His precious promises is that we have access to a new supply of God’s mercy every morning. By nature, I am a sinful creature, so I am very thankful that He states His mercies are new every morning(Lamentations 3:23). The entire passage (Lamentation 3:19-23) gives us all great hope. Without God and His mercy, none of us would have any hope in this life. So, as we begin this new year, let’s rejoice that we can wake up each morning knowing that we can count on a new and endless supply of God’s mercy!

What we are without Jesus, and what we are because of Him.
Posted on December 31, 2019
As we go into the New Year, this is a good thought to meditate on. The Old Testament and the New Testament give us a stark contrast of what we are without Christ, and what we are with and because of Him. The Old Testament tells us that our righteousness is as filthy rags, that our hearts are deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, and that all the thoughts and intents of our hearts are evil all the time. In sharp contrast, the New Testament tells us what we are because of Christ and His sacrifice. The New Testament tells us that He is the one who is able to keep us from falling, and to present us before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy; that He is the one who-after we have suffered a while-will complete and make us what we ought to be; and that we can work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, because He is at work in us giving us both the desire and the power to do of His good pleasure.
So, we fall on our faces before God and ask for His forgiveness that was bought for us by Christ’s sacrifice. But, we also celebrate what we can become because of the gift and sacrifice that Jesus made for all of us.

Jesus is The reason for the season.
Posted on December 11, 2019
We are well into the Christmas season. As the song writer stated, ‘it is the most wonderful time of the year.’ What we are celebrating, the birth of Jesus the Son of God, makes it the most wonderful time of the year. Jesus is the reason for the season, and his birth-his coming to earth-is what makes it the most wonderful time of the year.

Our faithful Father.

Every morning the sun rises is and should be a reminder to us of the faithfulness of our Father. It also speaks to us of His power. He spoke one word, ‘let their be light,’ and it has been so ever since. He is faithful and powerful enough to take care of us each and every day.

The Father who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Posted on November 16, 2019
God, being love itself, created us so that He could have a people with which He could have a relationship-a very close, intimate relationship. But, God being God, also knew the end from the beginning, and knew that we His creation could not maintain a relationship with Him on our own. He knew that it was going to cost the life of His Son, in order that we could have that relationship with Him. Despite knowing this cost, He created us to have a relationship with us, and He made the ultimate sacrifice needed by giving His Son. He demonstrated extraordinary love by His sacrifice, and ultimately showed us the love of a Father. There is no greater love than this.

This Father that overwhelms us with His love.
Posted on October 27, 2019
While God does not usually overwhelm us with His power, although He easily could, He frequently overwhelms us with His love. He demonstrated His overwhelming love by creating us, and creating us with the express intent of having a personal relationship with each of us. We could not maintain that relationship with God by ourselves, and God again showed His overwhelming love for us by sending His son as a sacrifice for our sins so that our relationship with God could be restored. Because of this gift, we the children of our Father, are able to have a relationship with the creator of all things!

The Father that thinks about you all the time
Posted on October 6, 2019
You may or may not have had a father that showed you how much he loved you all the time. This dancing Father you have, your Father in heaven, loves you very much and is thinking about you all the time. He tells us in Psalm 139 that His thoughts about us outnumber the grains of sand. Just as His plans for us are good, His thoughts about us are good. David called God’s thoughts towards him precious; and Isaiah tells us that God calls us precious, and that He loves us. We are the ones who should be dancing because of this loving Father we have.

The greatness of God.
Posted on September 27, 2019
“How great Thou art” is one of the best loved hymns, and I believe there is a reason for that. It is the song of all of God’s children. The writer of the lyrics was doing his best to describe just how great God is. God is so great, our words are really not adequate to fully express the greatness of His love, His mercy, His power, and His holiness. The writer used nature as a way to describe the greatness of God. He also used the death and resurrection of God’s own son to describe the incredible love, mercy, and greatness of God towards His children. So, as the song tells us, when we reach heaven (our home) and see Him (the one who made all things possible), we will bow down, and with great joy sing and tell of all His greatness.

God so loved the world….that He gave.
Posted on September 15, 2019
There is a reason that John 3:16 is one of the most well known and best loved verses in the bible. This verse tells us that God showed the extraordinary depth of His love for us by giving us His only son….as a sacrifice for our sins. He delights in, and desires a relationship with us His children, but we cannot maintain a relationship with God on our own. It took the sacrifice of God’s own son to make the relationship God desires with us possible.
