LESSON TWO — GATES 4–5 | THE PROMISE & COST OF REDEMPTION

Even in the midst of humanity’s rebellion, G-d reveals His plan to redeem.

In Gates 4–5, we explore the promise of the coming Seed in Genesis 3:15 and the profound picture of G-d providing a covering for Adam and Chavah. Together, these passages introduce foundational themes that unfold throughout Scripture: Messiah, sacrifice, atonement, and restoration.

From the promised Seed to the covering G-d provides, we begin to see that redemption originates with G-d, comes at a cost, and ultimately points us toward Yeshua the Messiah.

We honor the only Holy One, The G-d above all gods and The King of all kings. Be magnified and glorified on this Yom Kippur, this day of atonement!

“This shall be a permanent statute for you: in the seventh month (nearly October) on the tenth day of the month you shall humble yourselves [by fasting] and not do any work, whether the native-born or the stranger who lives temporarily among you;

for it is on this day that atonement shall be made for you, to cleanse you; you will be clean from all your sins before the LORD. It is a Sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall humble yourselves; it is a permanent statute.”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭16‬:‭29‬-‭31‬ ‭

“For what the Law could not do [that is, overcome sin and remove its penalty, its power] being weakened by the flesh [man’s nature without the Holy Spirit], God did: He sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful man as an offering for sin.

And He condemned sin in the flesh [subdued it and overcame it in the person of His own Son], [Lev 7:37] so that the [righteous and just] requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not live our lives in the ways of the flesh [guided by worldliness and our sinful nature], but [live our lives] in the ways of the Spirit [guided by His power].

For those who are living according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh [which gratify the body], but those who are living according to the Spirit, [set their minds on] the things of the Spirit [His will and purpose].”
