On this sacred day, we of Ijo Ifa Ogunda Masa honor and celebrate you, Oloye Iya Osunkemi Bogunmbe—founder of Ijo Osun Alawoye and Otun Iyanifa of Ibadan.

We give deep reverence to Ọ̀ṣun, sweet mother of the river, who flows through your life with grace, beauty, fertility, and divine wisdom. May her cool waters continue to soothe your spirit, expand your joy, and bring abundance to all that you touch.

We honor Ifá, witness to destiny, who has guided your steps and affirmed your purpose as a vessel of wisdom, healing, and leadership. May your orí remain aligned, your path illuminated, and your voice continue to carry truth and clarity.

We also give thanks to all the Irúnmọlẹ̀, the seen and unseen forces who walk with you, protect you, and fortify your work in this world. May they continue to uplift you, cover you, and open roads that only your spirit can travel.

This past Thursday, we had the extraordinary honor of being received by His Majesty, Oba Olusola Idris Adebowale Lamidi-Osolo, Otenibotemole II — the Olofin Adimula Oodua of the ancient Ado-Odo Kingdom, Àwórìland .This kingdom carries a depth of history and tradition comparable to Ilé-Ifẹ̀ and Ọyọ́, and His Majesty made sure we felt every layer of it.

None of this would have been possible without the grace and guidance of our Oluwo Ifa, the Araba of Ado-Odo Kingdom, Chief Awobola Ifayemi .ado.odo .He opened doors, both spiritually and physically, ensuring that our journey through this sacred kingdom was one of true cultural immersion and divine connection. We are deeply grateful for his wisdom, his welcome, and his role in making this experience everything it was.

We explored 12+ historic shrines across Ìlájé, Ìtàkọ́, Bùkúù, Ìsányìn and beyond, being introduced to the historical origins and cultural significance of each sacred site. At every turn, we were reminded that Ado-Odo is not just a place — it is a living, breathing testament to the power of resistance and preserved culture.

Our Oluwo, Chief Agbongbon Awo, was presented with a special plaque of the Ìkòkò Ọ̀tùn (Amuwa Pot) — the symbol of the very origin of Ado-Odo — a profound gesture honoring our ancestral connection to this land. We were then extended cultural naturalization, becoming official indigenes of the kingdom. As the Olofin noted, if not for the transatlantic slave trade, many of us would naturally have never left.

One of the most unforgettable moments came when we joined the Olofin himself in dancing to the ancestral Gbedu drums, a powerful, soul-stirring expression of cultural unity that words can barely capture them.

We are humbled, we are grateful, and we are forever changed. The roots run deep and we feel even more connected, Ado-Odo is home.
