Here’s the key: you come through your father, but you come from Almighty God. He knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. You may have had a father who couldn’t see your potential, who didn’t encourage you to dream big and pursue what God put in your heart. It feels like you’re limited. Like David, you were left out in the field. But no, God knows how to bring you in. He knows how to cause the gifts He put in you to come out, how to make you shine. Your time is coming. You’re going to go further than people thought; you’re going to accomplish dreams bigger than they imagined.

Where God is going to take you is going to require greater discipline, greater focus, and greater obedience. There will be plenty of opportunities to live defensively, to get baited into conflict. When they see God show out in your life, favor you in the famine, prosper you in the recession, some people won’t understand. They’ll try to discredit, find fault. Don’t take the bait. Keep your heart pure. Be good to those who aren’t good to you. Overlook what they said.

God knows how to take care of your weeds. If you will stand still, you’ll see Him show out in your life. I’m not saying to be passive. We need to pray, believe, do what we can, but there comes a time when we have to turn it over to God. Quit worrying about it. Quit trying to make it happen, make people like you, make the door open, make the business turn around. Leave it alone. If you try to do it in your own strength, it’s going to be laboring in vain: a lot of work, frustration, disappointment. Don’t fall into that trap. God is in control. He sees what you’re going through. He knows who’s not treating you right, the doors that haven’t opened, the child that’s breaking your heart, the medical report that’s not good. These are things that only God can change. It takes all the pressure off to say, “God, I’m turning it over to You. I’m going to quit trying to force it. I’m not going to take matters into my own hands. God, I trust You with my life.”

When we ask God to help us just get by, to endure, to just make it through, that’s a weak prayer. God is saying, “I created the universe, I flung stars into space, I parted Red Seas, I opened blind eyes, I brought dead people back to life. When you come to Me, ask for big things, knowing that I’m a big God. Ask Me for your dreams, ask Me to bring you out of debt, ask Me to accelerate your goals, ask Me to show out in your life.”

God’s hand is outstretched toward you. It’s a hand of healing, a hand of provision, a hand of favor. What He has purposed for your life is right on schedule. You didn’t miss it. Mistakes didn’t cancel it. Bad breaks didn’t override it. Trouble didn’t stop it. The trouble positioned you. Everything is serving God’s plan. Now, quit trying to figure it out, believing those lies that you must be off track, you must have done something wrong. God is ordering your steps. His calling on your life has not changed. The route may not be what you expected, but you’re still going to get to the destination He has for you. Can I tell you: it’s going to be better than you imagined, bigger than you dreamed, more rewarding than you thought possible.
