Most people are learning to merely exist. The time has come for the dead to hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live. Those who refuse will not live. The season is here when all will hear the Son's voice, which is why we will have no excuse when it is time for God to judge mankind. The last trumpet will blow, and "the dead in Christ will rise."

The Word is the final authority in all the issues of life. It alone will infallibly discern what is from the LORD, Spirit, and what is from man, soul. Only the Word is the final authority when judging the thoughts and intents of our hearts. As we dissect Hebrews 4:12, a bit more, you'll get some insight to the functions of the soul and spirit of mankind.
